Flying 200m, rather than match sprint rounds, and 800m / 400m TT rather than kilo / 500m. Nice.

Only three Kissena riders so far - me in 1/2/3, and Wilson and Christopher Ell in the 5s (Christopher, I'm afraid I have no idea who you are!)

That's a little disappointing turnout tbh...Esp as there's a chance I might have to bail due to work. Still time to register for anyone reading this...

Got back home 30mins ago after a long but fun day at the track...

My Britishness nearly prevents me from being self-aggrandising, but hey, I won the overall in the 1/2/3s!

1st, Flying 200m TT (after nearly falling off in the run up)
2nd, Points Race (won 2 sprints, 3rd in the final. Brutal! Took me 20 mins to recover...)
1st, Elimination (Some crafty riding, if I do say so myself, and the first elimination race I've won ever, possibly. Sat second wheel behind a guy who was quite happy just to lead out the entire thing. Hip checked everyone else. Eventually came down to us two. He kicked in the final 200m and I timed my sprint to come past him in the last 20m.)
3rd, Scratch Race (Weird race. Everyone watched me. I watched them back. No-one wanted to do any work. Guy who came 2nd in previous race attacked with 3 laps to go, couldn't follow. Mark Wagner attacked, went with him but couldn't hold him, then just held off the bunch for third.)
3rd, 800m TT. (I was five points up in the overall at this stage, so just gave it everything I had, which was enough for 3rd. Took the overall by 3 points.)

Felt terrible for the first two races (it's been a tough week), but it all came together in the third, and it helped the rest to fall into place. First omnium I've won since er...2005 Russian winter six day omnium in the wilds of Moscow.

Aaron B got an excellent 3rd in the 5s and was in the hunt for 1st (tied with two other guys) going into the last race. Chapeau!

We went for celebratory (and by now ritual) milkshakes at Baskin Robbins afterwards.

Wow, congrats Kieran! Sounds like a brutal day at the races, and I hope you do put that prize money to good use tonight. And kudos to Aaron as well! A good day for Kissenas all around.

Turns out Michael Garrett, guy I beat in elimination race was 4th in collegiate national pursuit a couple of years ago. No wonder he could just sit on the front all race...
