Cyclocross Talk (get all yer questions answered)

Seems like we could use a cyclocross talk for the club membership.  It could be just a mentor nattering on about whatever seems important in cx, it could just be a question and answer session.  It could be a combination of the above.

So I'm posting here to get the ball rolling.

Is there interest in such a talk?  I figure a Monday or Wednesday night sometime early september, starting around 7pm.  Possibly using a bar like we've done in the recent past.
I would just like to point out, that I am, in fact, on the forum.  I'm not sure how, but I am convinced that from this point onward, my life is getting better

I'm also going to point out, that Jules Roazen is listed as being "online".  I'm not surprised.

Cyclocross Clinic.
Learn to turn.

Where?   The "Yellow trail head" on hwy 114, in Sag Harbor NY.

This pretty much explains it.

We will be riding from that nice red dot, to the water on the north.  And back.  If you are fast, we can go to the water, look at it, and be back in about an hour.  Then we can head south, and do some super fun twisty trails as well.

We could do a four hour cross ride if so inclined.  Or, we could not.  Unlike Cunningham park, (which is pretty good) this is an actual trail, set up for bicycle use.  Bonus.

What to bring?  A bicycle.
A helmet.  Spare tubes.  Co2's/pump.  Your shoes, and hopefully socks.

I'm planning to be at the Ridebrooklyn opening party on Friday Night, and then either heading back east, or staying the night and then heading back.  Figure on a 90minute-2hr drive, depending on how ungodly fast you drive.

You'll be home in time for dinner.  Best cross riding... well... just about anywhere.  Come watch as I push Jules off a 50 foot sandcliff, and see why the "pre release" is in fact an essential cross skill.

Thanks to all.

I think there's some Canadian humour tucked in there.  Surprised Robertson hasn't gotten in on it.

Sweet. Fancy. Moses.

Myles is on the forum.

(falls back out of chair, lies motionless...)
I never even saw the thing before..... This is crazy.

I'd like to do this if I can hitch a ride with someone. Anyone driving?
If I don't race Independence CX, I can take two.
Eric, what time are you heading out?
@joaquin I am on the fence. I don't want to be gone all day. I would go to Stillwell Woods in Syosset if you want.
wheres that? Youll be back by dinner easy. Toddsvout to prepare for

I'll be there at 11am.  Can do a loop and pick up stragglers at 1130.  We can ride 2-3 hrs, and you'll be home in time for dinner.  Just suck it up and move to the east end already.
I just saw this - won't be able to make it. Count me in for next time.
Be sure to turn down the "suck" knob from the couch
Ps. 65 degrees n sunny
Had a great ride with Myles today.  Lots and lots of soft, twisty single track with loose bumpy turns.  Hope to do it again some time soon.
I'm in @JP.
Good idea.
Count me in if I'm not out of town...
I'm in!

All those interested, please go to the poll and enter your availability.

thanks.

unless someone can find something better.
Bump!

Peoples sign up!  it will only change your entire life for the better.
If we avoid the 16th, I will be able to make it. On the 16th we have a board meeting, so I can't comment in addition to Myles.
I'm in the same boat as Eric.  If we avoid the 16th, I could make it.  Also, if there are fewer than 15 or so attendees, we could do it at my office, which is on 34th and Fifth in Manhattan.
Peoples!

Pick some dates.  I want to firm this up by Labor Day.
It looks like Wednesday the 18th works for everyone (per the doodle poll).  Let's just pick that day.
The 18th would be a good follow up date for the 2nd Cunningham Park CX clinic on the 14th
Looks like the 18th is in the lead.  Poll will close at noon.  Last chance.
WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 18 TAKES IT!

Mark your calendars, start jotting down questions.

What??  I thought pants were optional!  Boycott until the tyranny of leg coverings are abolished!  No more pants!  No more pants!  No more pants!
