Tactics Talk Poll (2/14)

Time to set up the winter tactics talk.
Ouch.  Spelling cleerly isn't a strenght.

Figure this will take 1-1.5hours.  The talk will be discussing race strategy and tactics.  There will be a handout.  The quizzes will start the following Saturday.

Location for the talk is currently TBD.

If you have questions about what to do in a race and how to do it, you will find answers here.

If the location is in Manhattan, and start was a little later, I could make it to heckle you from the cheap seats. I'll keep an eye on the thread to see which date is chosen.

Not that any of @Wump's talks need a plug, but this talk got me a podium spot at least once last year.  Try not to miss it.
I could also do Thursday!
Could do Tuesday or Thursday, but not Monday.

Bump.

This talk is aimed at the folks who are newer to bike racing.  At the same time, even experienced hands can learn a thing or two.  It's crazy to spend all the time training and then not know what to do in a race.  Think of this as both speeding up the learning curve and providing a vocabulary and framework to discuss and understand what goes on in a race.

For new members, both this and the training talk JP gives are your meat and potatoes. Very practical stuff that gives you enough information to almost understand the organized chaos that is bike racing. I still have the packets from both of These talks and flip through them from time to time.

Monday would be best for this guy.
or Tuesday works for me as well.
Monday would be best for me but I can also do Thursday. Tuesday is out
Bump.

Last Call.  I'll tally this evening and make a decision.  I know you've been holding off until the last minute.

THURSDAY!

Evenly split between Tuesday and Thursday.

Based on the comments above, seems like Thursday is better bet.

Now, a meeting place.  In the past, I've used Commonwealth bar on 5th.  Still works for me.  Anyone have a better suggestion?
Someone please live blog, I can't make it

BUMP.  TODAY IS WEDNESDAY.

TOMORROW IS THE TALK.

Even if you didn't sign up, you're still welcome to come.
last-minute deadline meaning i can't make it out tonite :(  Apologies was hugely looking fwd to hearing JP's talk!
Thanks JP for a fantastic talk!
(Holy cow it's cold out)
Yes, thanks JP!  A good chat with a good crew.  I appreciate the hand-out, and the overall discussion about counter-attacks specifically - you and Jules had some great information I'm chewing on.  This is something I want to be conscious about on the road and try to put into practice this year once it gets up above 8 degrees.
I'm going to keep my eye out for a spread-out group on the front as an attack is being brought back.  Good stuff and great to see teammates.

So bummed I couldn't make this, by all accounts, incredible talk. Is there any way that someone could post any printed materials that might have been shared?

Thanks for the round up @Gwynna! Not dying is solid advice in my book, and buying people muffins is always a good idea. Also, pie and donuts. Just saying.
JP and Jules,

Thank you for the talk and the accompanying document. I immediately applied many of the pointers you all discussed in Saturday's race : ) they worked... NICE!!

I completely missed this thread -- will there be more talks in the near future / maybe early-mid Spring?
