Konrad, Craig and I loaded up the VW and headed down yesterday for both 3/4 and 123 navy yard Crit. First observation of note was that the course was very challenging; Imagine the head winds of Floyd on a 6 corner crit. I felt like total garbage. It was single file just about the entire race with no place to hide. No matter where you were in the pack guys(and gals) were dropping like flies and energy sapping gaps would open. Fortunately with so many corners, using the Bertucco tail gunning thing into the corners really helped. Put in a attack on home stretch and dangled off the front of the front for a few laps around half way through the race. We all road at the front and put in attacks, but in the end In the end a group of 3 got away. Konrad made a good bridge attempt, but no results the speak of. We lined up for the 123 moments after. As I looked around and saw Bobby Lea, Jackie Simes, and some other Pro looking dudes and just thought Shit... I lasted like 3 laps. Totally cooked from the 3/4.
The normalized power for 1 hour in the 3/4 race was 296 watts. We all agreed it was a really freekin hard race and pretty much felt like a cross race.
Pre-race, Craig insisted on Chic Fil A.
We got cheese steaks afterwords, and started planning for TOAD.
