We'll do a Skills & Drills clinic on the 12th of April. This is a ride to help us all practice those little riding skills that can come in handy when in a race. Think grabbing a drink while in the pack, taking those sharp corners at Randall's Island, bumping shoulder in a bunch sprint or just holding a wheel.
We'll be heading over to NJ where we'll work on these skills:
Bumping
Cornering
Cornering in a group
Braking
Protecting yourself in a race
Whatever you want to work on!
8am @ Brooklyn Bridge. 9am @ GWB.
JP shared some good advice re: cornering after a previous edition here.
Not to be missed! There was a close call right in front of me at L&C yesterday and I'm glad the two racers who bumped each other stayed upright. I'd like to avoid being featured on critdrama and these skills and drills will very much help.
Does the team typically do a skills and drills session multiple times per season? I ask b/c I'll be away a few times these upcoming weekends due to various obligations, travel, etc.
The weather is looking warm this Saturday for the clinic.
I'd like to move it up by 30 minutes if possible, so 7:30am BB, 8:30am GWB.
Here's what was posted last week:
Let's improve our bike handling skills!

I have this fear that bike racing is in a destructive cycle right now. People train indoors so much they lose pack riding skills. Then, they race, and it's sketchtastic, crashy, and they say, 'guess I'll do more zwifting' rather than, 'I've gotta develop better bike handling skills.'
