Question 1) anybody else have trouble getting VIRB Edit software to synch .fit file correctly with video?
I've got sweet FBF footage but it looks like the GPS is going 20% faster than the video...

make sure you reset your Garmin right before the race starts. then just the matter of matching the starting point. Zoom in the gps map and slowly increase the time until you see the race starts

Chi, I just re-encoded one of the race videos at variable bitrate right up to the max of the 45 Mbs that my GoPro records at. Currently uploading to YouTube. I'll post the two links later for comparison purpose.
The file was about 10+ times larger.. 16GB for an hour of video
It's also telling me to "upload in a streamable format," which I suppose means a lower bitrate format. https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en
Looks like 45 Mbps is reserved for 4k video, 8 is max for Youtube 1080p? Or maybe just 1080p in general? I know nothing about video editing and the like.

Interesting tidbit (still trying to pair gopro & garmin files) is that VIRB Edit software seems to only take 30fps video - if I use the GoPro's settings the GPS gets way ahead of the video every time.
I'm re-rendering the first of 3 files as 30fps to see if that fixes the synchronization problem.
Hate how long it always seems to take.

What format does my .mp4 need to be in to import into VIRB Edit? I can import the raw .mp4's from the SD card, but those don't have the color tuning that the post-conversion .mov/.avi's do. I encoded the .mov/.avi's back into x264 1080p 29.97 FPS 32 Mbps .mp4's but VIRB won't import them. Any idea what to do?

Brendan, I think it has to be .mp4
You can do the color tuning after you have overlayed the power data (I think)
I didn't, for what it's worth. Each pass on a one hour video seems to take like ten hours.

@Chi: Is there a way to upload videos from sony action cam directly to youtube? Without downloading first to your computer? I dont have enough space in my laptop to download an hour and half worth of footage.

Phil you should be able to just plug the camera into your computer and then upload as if the camera was another drive. It could take a while though...
If you want to lend me the memory card I could do it for you (copy the film off the card and get it back to you)
