WHY IS THIS THREAD SHOUTING AT US????

This was a great crit. The course feels like Somerville Lite. Rectangular, two long straights with super easy corners... like ridiculously take any/every line type of easy... pedal through every single line type of easy. This is great  because if you've been racing lots of crits, this one feels real comfy.

Wide roads that are easy to move up and get away on. Long enough straights for the break to get a good gap. Big enough fields for the break to pedal through corners while the pack bunches up and brakes to get through. Definitely lappable.

Industrial park vibe. Cops at the corners herding traffic. Marshalls everywhere else. Butt loads of parking. Bathroom, lockers, water, etc. at a Retro Fitness Gym on site. Big guy group doing the results. You can't ask for a better run race. Quick and easy drive from BK; also easy via NJ Transit from Penn Station.

Durso sprinted Novemsky from a late 3 man break to win the 45+. I raced the 35+ and felt great. Was active and at the front immediately. Raced smart, had some fun with Chris Loehner (eventual winner), sat on Durso while he tried to reel in Novemsky's solo attempt (because Mikey's my boy)... also apologized to Durso when he gave me the "why aren't you pulling through" look by saying "Sorry John, Mike's my friend."

Was having a blast until the penultimate turn on the bell lap when I was getting on the gas for the final push. We were all together and I was hoping for a top 20 finish because a sprinter I am not. I'm diving into the turn and my front wheel starts wobbling like crazy. I think that I'm flatting or rolling a tubular so I hold my line as I slow to a roll and the race passes me by. The wheel was fine. I think it as a combination of the crappy surface going into that turn (those tar strips that fill long cracks) along with a gusty crosswind on the 65mm wheel that gave me the flat/rolled false feedback. It's disappointing that I didn't get to finish with the pack, but I'm content with fiercely having raced for a break and with erring on the side of caution at the end. Flying through the last corner in the middle of the pack on the last lap of a state championship crit on a flat/rolled front is idiotic. If you knowingly do that, I will hate you forever.
