Redbeard Bikes Bike Fitting Workshop

Hey Kissena!

I invite you all to a Bike Fitting Seminar/Workshop on March 30th at 7:30PM.

I've been getting some questions about bike fit from several of you. There's a lot to say and there's a lot to explain. I'll explain how good, science based, bike fitting works, how bodies differ.

We'll address: pedals, shoes, saddles, fore-aft, stem drop, pain, tightness, power, aerodynamics. I will explain how these all are affected by time, distance, age, and fitness.

I'll have at least one volunteer. May have 2, on different ends of the body-type spectrum.

RSVP will help us manage space.

Fantastic!
not sure I can make it, but seems like a great idea regardless.  Hope others choose to come out.
awesome.  In!

good timing, it's the beginning of my spring break, count me in
I'll come
Cool!
Count me in
I won't be able to make it but this is a great thing.  Thanks, Ilya!
I'm in!

Hey Ilya,

Apologies for posting in this thread, but not sure how much you check the others. I was wondering if you carry any "Redbeard" branded cycling caps. And if not, what kind of minimum order do you think you would be looking at to start that up? I'm a cycling cap wearer, and while I've got plenty of the..less than ideal fitting KCC, Champ-Sys ones, I'd jump at the opportunity to support a sponsor and wear another brand of cycling cap. #justwondering
Hi Marc,
We had Redbeard caps last year but ran out. We're looking to do another order soon - if others are interested, please chime in! They will be Pace or Walz.

I'd be in, maybe some navy blue with white trim
Walz caps are nice
Just want to give a big shoutout and a thank you to Ilya and Kasia for the great event last night.  Highly informative presentation and demonstrations and fun to talk shop inside of our sponsor shop!
Yes, thanks Ilya and Kasia for last night's very informative lecture on proper fit. It was very helpful to me.
Can somebody share photos from this?
@JeffreyWhite Here's the pics, I photoshopped on our new sponsor logos even!

Insights please?  Ilya shared with you.  Now you with us.  (this is the written quiz aspect of the workshop)

Yes. Please share. Did he have anything to say re cleat position, shims, things related to leg length discrepancies etc.?

I'm real sorry I couldn't make it. Earlier in the day yesterday I  got offered my first real "professional" dog training gig assisting another trainer while they teach a class at a doggie daycare near me.. Since the gig begins this Thursday, I felt like I should do some studying in preparation for it rather than attend the workshop.
Lots to think about, for me the most interesting things were:
- stretching your hamstrings and building your core is going to make you go fast as it enables you to work towards a more aggressive position (or maybe not depending on your body type/proportions). Cancellara is the perfect example apparently, he can hug his chest to his knees. Stretching!
- a high arch is an indicator of athleticism; the arch = literally a strong foundation for your body to be able to do athletic stuff.
- 1st and 5th Metatarsal still king for axle center (although there's data to suggest it should be further back)
- Triathlete TT forward position is mainly to recruit the quad and conserve the ham/calf for the run.
