This is a really solid road race. Easy to get to, challenging course, attracts some tough riders. I got dropped last year in the master's 40+.

I'm doing this as well and reg'ing tonight, so you won't be alone Whitey. I'm expecting to see a lot of the same guys from Purgatory and Killington.

I'm trying to get one more race in and do this as a 4.  Any interest in carpooling up?

considering this too. has been 6 or 7  years since I last raced there, short but punchy steep climbs, if I remember.

I find the climbs in this race anything but "short." Yeah, there's that one ramp that's short, but the major climbing section stair-steps, dips down for like 2 seconds but mostly feels like it goes on forever and ever.

I'd be up to race the Master's field if I could hitch a ride.

Hey racers, anyone heading up, have room in your car and wouldn't mind a Manhattan pick-up. I live close to the GWB and am essentially, as near as I can tell, on the way. Instead of taking Lincoln Tunnel, zip north up the West Side Highway. Or I could meet you down on Canal.

Let me know, I'd like to race, but even my cheap rental car place is $60/day and I don't have that kind of coin right now.

Just went to register online and noticed that with the bikereg fee add-on, day of registration is $1.50 cheaper. I've sent an email to the promoter to confirm the day-of fee before I decide how I'm going to register. But as of now, I'm going day-of.

Knee is almost but not yet 100%. Will skip this and be at R&A Saturday.

Checking Road Results the Cat 4 field has become a pretty deep race. Currently 71 pre-reg'd. Excited to see how this will shake out - I suspect there are enough strong guys to keep this hard. If not, we certainly should take the lead in that, which will string out the field. In races like this the cat 4 peloton has a tendency to keep it easy and together. We have enough guys to keep up the pace and make sure the strong are there at the end -- and hopefully tired. 

Adam, do not spend ONE IOTA of energy "making things hard" there will be other fools to do that. If you want a result, save your bullet (single) for the end. Wait, wait, wait and then wait some more.

Oh, definitely @Jules. I meant we have enough guys in the race that we can control the tempo. That said, I'm mentally preparing myself for this:

With narrow roads and a large field, it will be important to start the race at or near the front (as always).  Moving up through a field like that with the yellow line rule is very difficult, and on the hills there's sure to be a break in the field, like with Battenkill, with a smaller group maintaining pace while others either can't keep up, or are stuck behind those who can't.  
It would be great to have all of us near the front, and talking to each other.  If I'm there, and feeling drained, I'm happy to throw everything I've got at pulling teammates off the front toward the end of the race, and then sweeping (if I can).  If I'm feeling good, I'll try and do that anyway. 

I'm game for whatever plan you guys come up with, which will most likely change, because you know - its bike racing. Honestly wasn't feeling 100% health or fitness wise last week or Monday/Tuesday, but starting to feel much better. So we'll see how the legs are mid-race tmrw.
