For almost obvious reasons, always been a fan of Colombian racing, its mystique, history, triumphs, and heartbreak. Cochise, Lucho Herrera, Fabio Parra, Patrocinio Jimenez, etc, etc...

As we post about the decline of road racing in the US, the feeds from last week suggest the exact opposite in Colombia, the size of the crowds in the hundreds of thousands. Unconditional fan love and passion, the complete and absolute lost of control, the last stage was nuts in every way possible, and in both terrible and the most awesome ways.

It makes me think that what we witnessed last Sunday, during the last stage, was maybe the highest point in the history of Colombian road racing.

the passion is off the hook. Zero to that in two years is completely mid boggling.

Something like 13 out of the top 15 guys were Colombian. Think we'll see a Colombian Tour de France winner this year?
