Membership and Pricing
Dear Members,
The purpose of this note is to prompt you to renew your Kissena membership. You'll notice right away that the email is pretty long for such a seemingly simple topic. This is because the board has made significant changes to the coaching program which impact membership dues. This email describes the changes, explains how the board came to this decision, and includes some notes about the mentor program. If you just want to read about the changes, read the first few paragraphs and renew here.
Changes
For 2018, Kissena is offering all members a wide variety of training plans at no additional change. In addition to the Kissena racing plans (Cat 1-3 and 4-5) currently offered, the board has worked with Tim Cusick to make all of his 50+ coaching plans available at no additional cost. Not only can you pick plans suited to your goals, you can start them whenever you choose. Check out the variety of plans here.
In order for the club to include coaching and offset the loss of Sixpoint as a sponsor, dues are increasing to $175. You can pay dues in a single payment or choose to have your credit card charged $30 a month for 6 months. Renew here. Note that the 6 month payment option is only open until January 31st.
Background
Over the past few years, Kissena has been in a strong financial position, however, the board faced a problem in that there was a significant shortfall between what the club was paying for coaching and the fee paid by the members taking advantage of coaching. The club subsidized the cost of coaching to members while making efforts to increase participation in the coaching program. The number of members using the coaching plan increased slowly, however, the board felt that the club could not justify continuing to run it at a loss.
After lengthy deliberation, the board decided to change how coaching is offered to the club. We felt that having access to a top-notch coach is important to developing racers and that by including coaching as part of membership and distributing the cost across the club that it allows all members to benefit at a reasonable cost. While not all members will use coaching, the vast majority - especially those who are new to coaching - will get a significant benefit from participating.
Coaching
Details for how to add plans to your account will be provided in the forum. Tim will continue to be accessible on the forum to help you plan your season, choose the plan that best fits your needs, and answer your training questions. The board wants to encourage members to use the forum to discuss which plans to get on and make efforts to do so at the same time to create opportunities to train together.
Mentoring
While not directly related to the coaching program, I want to bring newer members’ attention to a related and valuable resource right here in our club. Kissena has a number of seasoned racers with a wealth of knowledge who are available to mentor newer riders. It is one of my priorities as club president to strengthen the mentoring program and support our mentors in assisting members to become better racers and cyclists. While Tim is a great resource, our mentors complement him with the knowledge, experience and personal feedback they can provide.

Question, will there be an webinar about how to load plans, what to pick, how to structure, etc?
Will K and I tested it before rolling it out, but a last minute change meant that the link on the landing page was broken. I guess its a good thing that I am not in QA for a tech company.
Funny thing is that NO one who tried that option complained that the link wasn’t working. I see about 10 IP addresses who tried the option and gave up… can't blame you for not wanting to part with your money!
Go ahead and try again
Please pay your dues so that the club can continue to club
Let me or Patrick know if there are any issues with the forms.
To follow-up on the email everyone received, please remember to renew your membership for 2019. We are keeping the same pricing and payment options as we had last year. More information on payments, and member perks!, are below:
The board has chosen to keep dues set at $175 for the upcoming year. Due to its popularity, we will again offer a one-time payment as well as a recurring payment option. The recurring payment options is six monthly payments of $30.

This year the board is continuing its focus on offering tangible benefits to members such as a free short sleeve jersey, a helmet subsidy, and continuing access to coaching. Our new sponsorship with Specialized grants members access to 25% off all bikes and gear. Additionally the relationship with our good friends at Redbeard Bikes remains the same for 2019, along with the associated discounts.

Slack
At the end of 2018 the club has chosen Slack as a new communication tool. We encourage you to download the app and join the conversation. Slack is a great tool for more real-time messaging than the forum offers. Whether you're looking for other members for a group ride or want to share the latest professional transfer news, join us on Slack and give us your feedback. More information can be found in the Slack thread on the forum.
We will start removing forum access to unpaid members soon, so I urge you to avoid this terrible fate and renew!
please confirm that I paid my renewel
