Kissena Run Club

I know you've all been inspired this past weekend from watching the NYC Marathon. We all know cycling is better than running. It's much lower impact (until you crash) and most of the time more fun. However, there are times when some of us like to run. It's nice to cross train, sometimes you don't feel like getting all your bike gear out, and when it gets really cold in the winter you don't like getting your fingers frozen off biking.

So, for those of you that I've convinced, I'd like to start a weekly casual run club. We're talking a casual slow pace. Somewhere between 8:30-11:00 mile splits depending on the comfort of those who show up.

What: Conversational pace run
When: Mondays 7:00 AM EST
Where: The triangle in Prospect Park by Grand Army Plaza
Maybe swimming also   =)
@Mark Taylor all the respect in the world if you jump in at the dog beach
Around that time every year, I tell myself I should start running. I even bought running shoes last year. Then I'll do it and I remember it's excruciating. I hope I'll commit a bit more this year.
Grant,
I think a bunch of us run.  I'm too far away to make running in Prospect a thing, but I thank you for being open about it.
Agreed. I've been running sporadically this year after a 15 year hiatus and despite being terrible at it, it's been fun. I'll be running with you in spirit out here in Queens.

2022 has been the year that I've run the most and fastest of my entire life.

I am planning on joining Mondays, but will depend on how I feel if the Sunday before had a cross race.

Need to be super clear tho: RUNNING IS THE F**K*NG WORST.

Eloy if you keep talking like that you're gonna have to buy the coffee for everyone.

Definitely looking forward to this Monday, I got hit by a car on my commuter bike a few days ago, just a little bruised up, nothing serious, but i'm gonna wanna take it nice and slow :)

Whoa, hope you're alright Grant.
Tomorrow 7:00 AM EST! KISSENA RUN CLUB! BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!

Seems like both WvA and MVDP are great runners. I'd like to see Wout do an Ironman, I bet he can win if he gets a half decent swim in.
Tomorrow at 7 AM, see y'all there!
I’m going to do the Brooklyn 1/2 on April 28 - one week after Rasputista. Anyone else here participating?

The Sunday after Rasputista i'm doing a gravel triathlon in New Jersey: https://www.xterraplanet.com/event/xterra-new-jersey , there's also Duathlons and trail runs at various lengths (including half, though thats the Saturday).

I did the same Brooklyn Half Marathon last year, I enjoyed the course though it was pouring rain the whole time :) Good luck!

I'm thinking about doing this again, this time without moving all of my stuff down five flights of stairs the day before. Anyone else? It'd be fun and motivating to follow a bike+run training plan with a few people
I have no intention of running the Bklyn Half. But I am targeting the San Silvestre Vallecana in Madrid Dec 31st, and will shift to add a bit more running starting next week, likely will add some trail running, because off road is less pain.

Can post here once I figure what exactly I'll be doing

Madrid! I cannot freaking *wait* to see the fire photos you bring back :)
On my way back from riding barely a portion of the Super Bowl Worm Hole ride... noticed a bit more action, and some really really fit runners kinda warming up outside the armory by 168th street... little did I know that records were being splattered inside

Someone then posted this from her training camp in Kenya:

They are all great, but "We check the laces" is out of this word amazing.

Run KOMs all done...

Not sure the video actually does justice as to how fast this actually is -- specially compared to anyone else doing anything else in CP -- Conner even passes road bicycles in Harlem hill. He runs the full loop in 27ish minutes.
Haha this is insane

I THINK I SAW YOU ON MY RUN TODAY, VOLUME II

Next we are going to be getting
"Running is everything you want cycling to be " quotes from you  =)
Did my first run today in probably 22 months.  Ooof.

Before I started, I was thinking, '10 minutes is a good start.'  After three minutes, I decided to cut it to five.

Doing this again this year! PR’d with 5 minutes both previous times (1:42 and 1:37), trying to hit 1:30 this time.
Starting now means there’s enough time to build ;-)
I ran the cambridge half marathon a couple weekends ago! First HM - ran a 1:36. Trying to reincorporate cycling into the mix now.
Nice job, that's super quick!
