Greenwich Kissena Ride

Hey Folks! As you all know by now, I've been living in Greenwich for a year and have been absolutely loving it, mostly because of the great roads for cycling. The roads are perfectly smooth, well maintained, shady, quiet, punchy and wind past extremely affluent estates that make for good gawking.

With that said, i'd love to have folks over next weekend Sunday September 22nd. You would have the option of either driving to my place, or conveniently taking metro north to Greenwich. Either works! Regardless, everyone is welcome, and we can hang in my backyard after the ride and I'll either grill or order some pizza. There's also good places to stop at towards the end of the ride if that's the vibe.

The route I propose is just 40 miles of smooth tarmac, but has some great punchy hills. I can make it longer or less punchy depending on preference of folks who are coming.

Meeting Spot: Greenwich Metro North station or my house (message on slack for address)
Date: Sept 22nd 2024
Time: Rollout 8:45

Please let me know if you can make it!
Grant ,sounds like fun , thanks for the invite , I’ll check my availability
I should be free that day, sounds like a great time!
Sounds great, I’ll only know if I can make it pretty last minute though
I plan to attend. I know the roads reasonably well from riding in westchester and Greenwich in the 90s. Gimbels ride anyone?

I also lived a little up county from there from 2007-17, so a walk/ride down memory lane for me.
Just checked. The train from Grand Central Terminal arrives at Greenwich at 8:32 am. Maybe let’s make the rollout 8:45 am?

Rollout of 8:45 definitely works!
I will be driving so if anyone wants to ride out to me (Bayside, Qns) by 730am-ish I can give you a lift up/down. Have space for prob a max of 2 additional peoples. Slack/DM me.
I rode part of the route that I posted originally, and I ran into some construction on the road. I've updated the route accordingly, including adding a sweet windmill photo-op!

Just catching up on this thread ... I would love to get some fresh routes, count me in!
Woke up a little late, so I’m driving up. Presume we were meeting at the railway station?
@niallsmart nope just come to my place, much better for parking. I DM'd you my address
Good times with Grant, Niall and David K. in Greenwich, CT! The roads were indeed pristine, the traffic (and drivers) relatively mild and the mansions and properties were of course eye-popping. Grant, Niall and I started off from Grant's place and somewhere close to Bedford we saw David K riding toward us. He made a u-turn and quickly joined on. We stopped for some coffee and pastries and made our way back, passing by the famed windmill and hammered it back. Grant's wife was kind enough to put out a bagel spread and we got to enjoy hanging outside on a deck without pedaling our bikes.

Love riding new roads, love getting lost, love changing flat tires, love riding with you good people I don't get to ride often enough with.

Great ride and company! Thank you @GrantSeltzer for hosting us and the most excellent post ride bagels!
