Who's racing this? I am in.

Remember no need to Pre-Reg for these races. Just show up and pay your $10 Kissena registration for these races.

Who is in and how should we play our cards?

William and I are in for the 3s.

Others?
I haven't decided if I'm going to do this race, but if I and say, JP are in then one way we could play this is for JP and I to follow wheels without actually participating in the chase by the 1/2 field. I mean, if it's just me, I definitely won't help with the chase, because well, I'm 100% sure Perlberg, and 85% sure William are riding stronger than me.

Of course if JP and I get up to the field, then we've got, say 4. Which means we can pretty easily trade blows with GS Mengoni, depending on who shows to race. For example Wilson and Pollo can be counted on to surf the pack racing in their own worlds until the final sprint. Breech, Bunde and Tall Guy will go for breaks. As will WS United. And I think we've proven that the breaks are good for Kissena this year.

It becomes a question of odds I think too. I mean, if the 3s can stay away, and William and Mike are confident that they can handle their business and both place in the money, then I don't see an advantage to us helping bring Mengoni's, United's and other guys to the party up front.

It's way too early in the week to be worried about the forecast so far, but I will say that riding 1 hour 30 minutes in the rain to the race, race, then home again, all in the rain? Uhm, no. I'm way too old, fat and cranky to do that shite anymore.
Can we get anyone else?

Keith? Joaquin? Jan? Greg D? Lenny? Myles?

Just about all the Mengoni's are signed up.
What, you didn't ask about me?
I'm injured.
Eric
I figured it was too late for you. I know you like the super-early stuff.

And I didn't ask about Robertson. Well, Erics, what's the word?

Did that make it better?
I think we can hug this one out after 50 miles of racing at FBF.

mike and i talked briefly about this

i have ZERO interest in participating in the 3's staying away - it was a total mess last year and it just won't work with Mengoni/WS United chasing.

frankly, after my display of Hubris at Battenkill this Sunday, i'm ready to start racing smart rather than heading-banging for posterity's sake.

i plan to sit in and then maybe launch an attack right before we get caught, but i want to try to be in The Break on saturday.

Al will be racing and he's in ripping form - we should look for the BH guys and work with them
I feel better now.
It is on the late side for me.
Thanks,
E
I'm in if it's not raining. I'm not interested in a field sprint, so I'll be looking for a break (and of course riding like a good teammate if I don't stick one).
FBF is always good for a breakaway. The hard thing is, breakaways at FBF HURT. there is no protection, and no rest. Hard work the whole time.

Jeff if you and I keep counterattacking when the other's move gets reeled in, I think we'll get something away.
FBF + wind/rain = Andrew still sleeping... But, if it doesn't look like it's going to be bad I'll be there. Will be my first race in 4s after upgrading this week. Will work for team whatever you need me to do. Grab bottles and snacks from the team car, whatever... You have those in the 4s right???
WDC,
I think you should reconsider. You want to ride hard enough to burn off the weaklings and the sprinters. You want to ride hard enough to fatigue those in the III field. You want to ride hard enough to make the chasing field tired when they catch. You're going to have a two-minute head start, which is pretty long.

You and Mike both have excellent fitness, and with Battenkill just completed, you're used to long slogs. The race is going to be hard no matter what. Put the hurt on others; it will take more out of them than it takes out of you.
Yeah, and podium girls.
Right now, Thursday afternoon a site that rhymes with pleather.com is saying it will be clear through noon on Saturday. As long as that holds I'm at FBF.
doing a crit sunday so i'm gonna hold off on fbf sat. good luck out there, gents!
I'm going to try to make it. Will be my 1st race of the season if I do. Willing to work for gels.
Jan says he will be there ready to put the hurt on.
Guys I think we'll have a nice group on Saturday. I think our goal should be to get most of us top 10.

The way I thought about doing this was getting two breaks set up, and early one which I would launch with someone else or two other guys, and a later one which would sort of act like a chase group (and try to bridge up to our first group if it's only made up of kissenas) or if not get a sizable gap from the field but make other riders do most of the work.

We would try and loose any other riders from each break by attacking/ leaving them out in the wind etc. (if Ofcourse we have enough guys to make it to the end)

I think a pre race meeting is preety important Saturday so we can decide who is willing to go when / block and all that. I'll try to get to Floyd around 9 so somewhere around 9:10 by the reg table Should be good.

See you tommorow guys
This is looking better and better for us.

Seems like we'll have Jan, Keith, Lenny, Mike, William racing in teh IIIs. JP and Marc in the IIs.

IIIs, don't wait around for the I/II/Pro to catch.

And the weather is looking like it will be dry for the race.
to be fair, it was only a total mess because there was a crash on the second lap, after which there were only 8 of us trying to stay away. which we did, fast, for an hour.

that shit was hard.

then we got caught by a pretty limited bridge group, and it got even harder. plus 95degree temps.
Okay, looks like I'm going to race tomorrow. Just a plea to our cat 3s...make the punks in our field work to catch you. Because don't you want a slightly tired Brian Breech and Jermain Burrows to follow if they catch? Also everyone should be prepared that not every cat 2 Kissena will make it across to your group. Like if JP jumps on a Bunde-Burrows express train, and if I'm not right there too, then I'm certainly not going to drag the rest of the field to the chase.
Locked myself out of my apartment and just got back in with the help of a rather unsavory-seeming locksmith. Phone, keys, wallet, everything in my backpack inside so didn't want to ride out to FBF. Sorry for missing the race; hope it goes well.
I was halfway to FBF when this happened to my trusty caad7.

oh man :( that sucks. but are you ok? did you stay upright?

a moment of silence for your trusty pal.
I'm fine, was accelerating through a light when snap crackle pop, next thing I know my chain and rear derailleur are mangled and I'm skidding to a stop.

I stayed upright.

pour one out for my fallen pal when you are drinking tonight fellas...

You been turning a big ring lately, partner. Caad7 just wasn't enough Caad. They go to 10 now.
Resluts anyone?
Damn Brooklyn potholes!
In addition to Eric's forum broadening question, it would be great to know how our Kissenas did in the Kermesse this morning...
Cat 5. Andy Da Silva (?) 1st after 4 lap solo! Me 2nd.
Cat 4. The team were away all day. Field exploded last lap. Patrick top ten I believe.
Cat 1/2/3? It is very windy.

That chain stay is damned impressive. Caad6.998

How's Stearns doing?
