The usual.

11am by the old Tavern on the Green in Central Park.

Four Laps. Mostly Social.

Typically, we'll wait until 11:05 and then roll. With rain, snow, or real cold, no waiting unless we know you're coming.

First Google Earth of where we start: (aka west 67th street and West Drive)

I'll be there. four laps.
I'll be there. Probably three laps this time.

JP
Unless there's a movement for riding, I think we should pass. Road conditions are still pretty bad and the tourists are swarming the clear spots on the road. If we ride, we'll have to go pretty slowly.
If its not snowing i"ll be at by the old tavern green at 11am
for the friday 1/7/11 version of this ride, I think we'll have to wait so see what the weather brings. Snow seems likely.

JP
snowing. I won't be there.

JP
I expect to be there at 11am on 14 January. See you there. If late, ride slowly, carefully against the direction of bike traffic.

join,

JP
i'll most likely be there as well
Glad I missed the Friday ride, that way I could go to CP later in the day and get a ticket for running a red light.... Well, actually for stopping at a red light and being that the park was deserted, I continued on my way, only to have an officer pull me over for running the red light. Can't believe it, normally I do just blow through all lights in CP and one of the few times I actually stop, I get a ticket...

Anyway, have a good wknd everyone

this has been happening a lot lately in the parks and it really pisses me off.

on the one hand, we can do a MUCH better job of yielding to pedestrians in the park who have the light and are trying to cross.

on the other hand, i don't think cyclists should be subject to lights that are really only there because the city refuses to remove cars from the parks. runners use the same roads (they have their own "lane") and they never get hassled "jaywalking" through a red. cyclists, who are there to exercise, should get the same treatment.

send an email to Paul White at Transportation Alternatives AND to Janet Sadik-Khan, Commissioner of the DOT

May I also recommend sending a message to Ray Kelly at the NYPD. Let him know that this is where cyclist are getting ticketed. For running red lights in empty parks, during weekdays. Meanwhile people are salmoning up 2nd avenue in Manhattan yesterday in front of cops like it was legal.

It's on, rain or shine. I expect William and Tito joining. I think we're doing three laps, then going to Grant's Tomb to inspect the course, put in some efforts, and prepare for Saturday's race.

Wishful think by JP that it's going to be rainy. High of 72 degrees and sunny tomorrow yo!
