Yikes...just looking over the Killington start lists, surprised to see, on a team with a fair many Mountain Goats, that ONLY Adam N. is signed up to race from KCC!

I now feel like I should have pumped up this race a bit more, but since there are so many on this club who have raced Killington and really enjoyed themselves, I figured they would take the lead cheerleader role for the Vermont races. Or did y'all know about this race and for whatever reasons (new babies, new jobs, tapped out of cash at the moment, etc.) just decide Killington wasn't for you?

Related, the Jersey crits accept day-of registrations and with 3 back-to-back-to-back high quality criteriums about 40 miles away, I'd love to see more of you out there racing with us. Join Vlad, Strika and me in the Master's 35+ fields at Rariton and Bound Brook. Race with JP in the 45+ at Somerville! Race with Stokes, Da Silva, London, Tillman, Ratzmann in the 3/4s. So much fun yo!

The amount I've raced this year probably comes close to most of my road seasons combined. Opted for the crits because of the cash situation. Maybe next year I'll plan better and go for Killington. Let us know how it goes, Adam!

Raritan Roll Call (do your own math for start times, but I'm guessing based on a 25mph average). I'll plan on being there at 8:30 in time to do some hot laps with the Cat 4/5 racers if they're interested. Also, I could help gather the gang to have a pre-race strategy session. Nice big, strong groups of KCC racers in the 4/5 and 3/4 fields!

Following the men's 3/4 race, the Pro 1/2 women will race. I thought this would be a good time (no KCC racers signed up for this event) to roll on over to the Somerville course to do a couple of laps and talk about some of the trickier spots.

Also, tubulars sound like things that should roll, but really they shouldn't.

Just did the Mount Joy Road Race in PA. Combined 40+ / 50+ field (about 50 racers). I got 5th in the race and they scored me 4th among 40+.

Now off to explore some caverns with the family.

After tasting glory in the 4/5s, Wes collarboned in the 3/4 race :-(

Eric and I finished the p12 race. Really fun course. Very safe too.

I had 28.4 average Speed

We tried to move up but it was really hard. Sprinting full gas 35+mph on the straightaway would net us 4 spots.

I think I need to do some motor pacing to get used to such quickness.

Your race looked way more strung out than the 3/4 - hence the higher speed (I think Craig said 25mph). It's safer when its strung out like that.

Shit, Wes. Sorry to hear it... It sucks now but you might be surprised how quickly you can be back on the bike. Let me know if there's anything you need

Wes, sorry to hear about your crash. You were looking smooth and fast in the 4/5 race and did a great job of crushing the sprint.

I had a blast in the 4/5 and was feeling ok in the 3/4. Things got a little wonky coming into turn 2 with about 8-9ish to go and I hit the deck.  I knew instantly that I broke my collarbone but I was just happy to see that my bike wasn't snapped in half.

Desptie Wes' busted 'bone, there was a lot of good going on today at Raritan. Challenging course, but if you were in the right spot, fun and only painful sometimes.

Got in some nice pre-racing chatting and warm-up laps with the Cat 4/5 crew. After the 3/4 race, Stokes, Craig, Da Silva, Konrad, and myself tooled on over to the nearby Somerville course, rode a couple of laps, talked about a few of the corners and got back in plenty of time to cheer on Ragot and Perlberg in the very fast Pro 1/2 race.

Vlad and I lined up in the Master's 35+ field. 60+ riders, and knowing what happened to me last year (dropped after just a few laps), and knowing the course, I didn't mess around and got close to the front as quickly as possible. After about 10 of 33 laps I was reasonably confident that I would be able to finish this year. Score! Unfortunately, my confidence was not high enough. And when I was on the front, the winning break gets away. In retrospect, I'm reasonably confident I could have bridged, but at the time, I was worrying about burning my entire book of matches and being done for the day.

Anyway, finished in 26th which ain't too shabby as roughly 1/2 of the starters didn't finish this race. Tomorrow I'll race with more confidence and hopefully Vlad, Dan (Bound Brook is one of his all time favorite courses) and I can bring home some glory in the 35+ race.

Epilogue. Always scouting out the "family friendliness" of races, and this one wasn't too shabby. Multiple businesses open, I treated my fat-self to a double scoop of ice cream from a shop that has been open for 20+ years. Tasty. Also a bakery serving up Italian style cookies, etc, and a couple of "Bodega-style" convenience stores advertising sandwiches for sale. Good spectating, with lots of turns on a relatively short 1k course. A few benches on main street for resting those doggies. Also some kids bike races.

Wes, sorry to hear it.  You had a great race in the 4/5s and you've been having an awesome season. You'll be back on the bike soon enough.  Heal up.

Big thanks to Craig who, despite being the "Cat 3 JP" (finishing one spot out of the money) bought us dudes food/snacks before we checked out Somerville course!

Also, saw a big pig on a leash being walked by his/her owner.

Speaking of family friendly, Wes's mom bought six bottles of sriracha from a Filipino market by the course because they were half price compared to NYC.
