1000 yard stares
^^^Me after "climbing" the hill at Prospect Park.
^ Dave, you forgot to air-quote "hill".

I feel for those Wolf-bros with +30lbs on the GC guys. Tomorrow's stage is going to be like that time I did a race with a climb in it.  :'(
Last HC climb: "9.8 per cent for no less than 14.6km. Its first half rises to the Cobertoria, steeply for the most part, a stretch of 5km averaging 11.4 per cent, before some relief arrives approaching this pass. Now, though, the riders will reach the new section to the Gamoniteiru, the slope’s angle increasing the higher they climb until a final kilometre at 13 per cent and, just before the line, a ramp at 17."

"...the slope’s angle increasing the higher they climb until a final kilometre at 13 per cent and, just before the line, a ramp at 17."

That is sadistic. Holy hell.

To the riders that last bit probably feels like an asymptote in the real world:

Asymptotes

An asymptote is, essentially, a line that a graph approaches, but does not intersect. For example, in the following graph of y=1xy=1x, the line approaches the x-axis (y=0), but never touches it. No matter how far we go into infinity, the line will not actually reach y=0, but will always get closer and closer.

y=1xy=1x

Horizontal Asymptotes

As x-> finish line, y-> infinity
That final climb yesterday was gorgeous. Calling it a road may be generous but the way it wove around the exposed rock formations was lovely and the mist only made it more dramatic. I am just sad the weather didn't allow helicopter shots from up there. I'd be interested to see more of a large picture of it.

Posting this here as it’s happening at the same time.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Wout Van Aert is a super specialist
He specializes in winning
WVA at the start of every race...

over under of Jack Haig finishing in the podium? over under of Adam Yates finishing in the podium?
Do you think Mike Woods picks what Grand Tours he's going to ride in a given year by looking at the stage profiles and finding the race(s) with the most finishes atop 5k long 14% grades?

(probably!)
Winning a Grand Tour stage in the National Champion's kit is pretty sweet. He reminds a lot of Dan Martin in the courses he wins on.
I’m enjoying Peacocks commentary ,
Christian and Bob make a great team
Pogi is out. Who is winning this one?
Jonas.
Landa🤣🤣
In the Visma tradition, Jorgensen will end up as leader thanks to a successful early breakaway, just get beat out by Primoz in the final stages.  Remco will have a disastrous opening week and then find his form and get himself onto the podium thanks to a great ride on the last mountain stage.
I’m just looking forward to infighting between Almeida and Ayuso 🤠
Heart says Bernal but my brain says Jonas
So far pretty decent vuelta. Key question for me is why is Ayuso even here 😂
