"Not since James Frey's 'A Million Little Pieces' has a work caused us to rethnk the line between memoir and novel the way Doyle Hyphen Capitman has. -Newsweek

I had just bathed the left half of my body in shin-deep mud. It could be because I was wearing waterproof shoes and my toes were warm, or it could be because a heckler shouted "I still believe i you." as I was getting up from my bath. It could be that I decided I should let myself go and take chances and crash if need be, because after the first two minutes of the race, I didn't see how I could possibly catch the leaders.

After my last crash, on the section that dips below the upper parking lot, I picked my bike up over my head and roared. Because.

And it was very exfoliating.
" I probably burned just as many calories clenching my sphincter during that slip’n’slide as I would have if I’d pedaled. "

This has to be my favorite race report quote of the year. Disturbing and vivid but sooooo believable

Great race and report
