registration is open for super cross cup. everyone should plan on racing this and helping out. last year was a blast. I think Myles offered some discounted entries for labor... not sure. I will contact him and post here.

but you know, if you are in the men's C field and want to start close to the front, register now :)

Hey all,

Registration is open for the Super Cross MAC races on Long Island, November 19th and 20th.
stop trying to steal my thunder.
I am going to register through Jim's thread. Much more official looking.
NICE. Front row?!
ok fine, this is the more legit thread.

This race is awesome. Everyone should register.

Reg'd baby..... Oooh, so sweet! I'm riding the pork chop express straight to victory town!
For those of us helping out (this is a KISSENA event now guys) - do we pre- reg ?

Or Myles, will you put our names in ?
Josh,
Myles isn't on this forum--too complicated to work with his blackberry. He'll certainly need help. Not sure how he's going to arrange it in terms of comping entries and the like.
I emailed Myles and will let the club know what is happening with those details.

I decided to just enter and forget about the discount to hopefully get a better starting position.
Super Cross Cup
November 19th and 20th
MAC Series Race #11 and #12

Super Cross weekend is coming up soon. Putting on a cross race is no joke, so we will need everyone’s help to pull off an awesome race.

How can you help?

Friday Pre-Race Help:

Course Set Up. This will happen during the late afternoon and early evening. We will stake out the course, set up barriers, and make sure the course is ready to race Saturday morning.

If you help setup, you may even get a chance to preview the course.

Saturday Race Day Help:

Working Registration – more help needed early in the morning for the Cat 4 rush
Course Marshaling – help needed for all races. Bring a chair and relax. You can do it before or after you race.
Runners – need someone running around helping with things that come up. Can be rotated throughout the day, but an active job.

Saturday Post-Race Help:

Helping switch the course over to Sunday’s course.

Sunday Race Day Help:

Working Registration – more help needed early in the morning for the Cat 4 rush
Course Marshaling – help needed for all races. Bring a chair and relax. You can do it before or after you race.
Runners – need someone running around helping with things that come up. Can be rotated throughout the day, but an active job.

Sunday Post Race Help:

Course breakdown. All hands on deck.

Tell me:

a) If you are racing (if so, what category).

b) What days and times you are available.

c) If you are interested in any particular duties.

d) if you would like to volunteer your wife / girlfriend / roommate for jobs.
Uh...just noticed...what's with this weekend being "Presented Hampton Velo Club?" I thought when we plucked Myles, this weekend became "our" club's races. Why do I feel so cheap and cheated on? What does the Hampton Velo Club have that I don't Myles? Money? A hair-free chest?
Hi Folks, please contact me if you are available to volunteer. Let me know when you are racing and when you are available. I need to set up a schedule of sorts so this information is needed.

Mike
Get everyone you know on crca who races Cx to register. It's time for them to help out by racing.
2 weeks til go time.

We need help still. Please email me or whisper availability. I've only heard from 4 people, which is certainly not enough to pull this race off.

Myles said if he had to choose, he'd do all the course setup by himself to have more help on race days. Then his #1 helper for setup dropped out, so he will need at least a few bodies. Todd has volunteered for Friday duty (yay!) But nobody else.

Big help will be needed at registration and around the course on Saturday. It is essential to a safe race.

Mike
Hey Perlberg/Myles duo...

My mean boss is making me work on Sunday...but I can and will help on Friday/Saturday.
Super Cross is coming in a few days. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to help volunteer. I am putting together a first draft of a schedule and will have it posted shortly, so if you're on the fence please let me know so I can pencil you in.
ASk Ryan to help
no dice: he threw his back out brushing his rich, lustrous hair
It is going to be a huge help if you could come out and volunteer even for part of the day to assist in one way or another. Putting on a cross race is a whole lot of work and you can't do it all by yourself and volunteers help make it happen. Myles needs lots of folks to help with all sorts of things which ensure the race actually happens.

Even helping with registration, or marshaling for a few hours can make a difference. All of you going out racing can provide even an hour of your time to help this out would be great and wouldn't impact your post-race drinking time seriously.
Also, helping with this event is pretty damn fun. I helped a little bit last year and had a great time. You might even get a bit of a sun tan. Although, it's November, and Eisenhower Park is notoriously windy, so it might just be wind burn. But, either way, it'll be a good time. I'll be driving from Upper Manhattan each day. If anyone needs a ride, just let me know.

Todd
Just noticed there is serious cash-money available for the taking in many of the categories. And yet pre-reg numbers are weak for this great weekend of racing. It's a MAC series race. I just don't understand.
I have no idea why pre-reg is so low. Maybe since staging for nearly every category is based on mac points, there is no need to register until last minute.

There is a race on the 20th in jersey, with low pre-reg numbers. No verge race on the calendar.

That being said, a lot of the MAC series is based around Philly riders, geographically speaking. I think Long Island is on the outermost reaches of the mac territory. Maybe some riders skip this weekend.

If the schedule was set up to allow B racers to double to the elite race I would jump in there and try to win back my entry fee.
Hey, here's an organizational suggestion request:

A couple of times this past year, I've done "day of" race sign up (including yesterday) where they had a laptop, bar code reader and printer that allowed the day-of dude to scan a bar code and have it print out a rider release. It's super slick and really speeds up the registration process. Any chance we can beg/borrow/steal this kind of system for our race?
Reposted from an email Myles sent out:

All.

Any kissena member that wishes to race an elite field (elite masters, elite men and women) as their second ride either day of super cross can do so at no cost. Please email me license numbers so we can register you now. Thanks

anyone have room to take Nathaniel Miller out to the races form Brooklyn? He's a super-volunteer and we need him! Leaving from Ditmas Park area, not racing.
Super Cross Volunteers. In general, lend a hand whenever you aren't racing. Should be fun! If you are missing, incorrect, etc. shoot me a line and we can figure it out.

fyi:

i can no longer make it to race/help on sunday.

i'll be there on friday morning/afternoon for course set up.

if anybody can fill in on sunday, that would be hugely appreciated.

best,

This schedule works okay for me...I gotta check in with Todd because we were going to carpool it up on Friday...not sure what time he can go and if he still has room for me (and my bike? pre-ride baby, course recon like the pros!). Todd?
@ Mike and others: how can I contact Myles? CBS would like to film some of the masters race at 10 am for their story on ageing masters (not the 35+) still racing...
