The New York Spring Bicycle Racing Series dates / locations have been posted.

I am probably going to stay away from these in March and focus on Branchbrook Saturday and long ride Sunday.

In April I may begin racing twice a week occasionally and these will be a convenient way to double up when the L&C cup isn't happening or when it comes the day after an L&C Cup race.

The exception to this will be if JP rides into his usual top 10 GC position in the overall wants some support.

For those who don't know, the promoter of this series has a knack for frustrating riders by seldom posting results (never on time), being generally uncommunicative, and racing 4 fields in Prospect Park which almost always overlap. Despite that, the races do have marshals on the course and pace cars, and are generally only one level of safety below Charlie's races. Don't want to hate too much, because I do appreciate having a race a few minutes away from my apartment.

Wow...Anthony Van Dunk has the series posted already? This has to be some kind of record. Usually it doesn't go up until 2 weeks before the first race. Perlberg forgot to mention his extremely clever "team race" event last year where the winner of the race was the winner of the team competition.

But yeah, what Perlberg said, you can't really hate on the guy, because he has putting on racing in NYC for a long time year. So if you don't care about results being posted, or points or anything like that, or a leaders jersey competition that makes any sense (cat 5s have their own jersey/competition; everyone else across all categories fight it out for one jersey) then there's really nothing wrong with this series.

how does series scoring work with this, it looks like whoever gets the most prize money by the end of the series gets the trophy?

Also, there is a race at floyd? is that new for AVD?

AVD does not put on races like Charlie does. That is why he seems to have started contracting out the race-site work to Charlie, which seems to be what Greg Avon is doing for his races as well.

There has been a Floyd race for the Spring Series for many years. I think they didn't appear the last two.

Yes, the person with the most prize money wins. This means sometimes a team tactic is to send clubmates to contest another race to deny points--The Syndicate (aka Brauer/Mick racing) has done this in year's past. I've never seen a 3/4 racer win the series, it's usually a 1/2/3 rider, but sometimes it's a masters racer.

There are different ways to look at the spring series. For me, it's racing in Central Park, a venue I like better than Prospect Park, and not least of which is because of its proximity to my home. Another factor is that there are very few open races in CP outside of the spring series, usually just two more for the rest of the season. This could be the converse the reason why some Brooklynites are less than jazzed about having the spring series races in Prospect--there are already so many.

I'm not partial to the Branchbrook course. And for hte hour of the day, I'm not crazy about catching the train.

I think, considering our collective size, that we can easily have a Branchbrook crew and a Spring Series Crew in most categories.

There's both racing and training, as always, to consider.

In the 1/2/3s, I assume Marc, Myles, WDC, and myself will be representing at most Central Park races. I/We would love more folks to join us.

Ragot and Perlberg seem to be suggesting they're commiting to 1/2/3 branchbrook. Is Robertson around any more? He was on the Branchbrook plan last year.
