Keep an eye on Bill Elliston - he's always seems to get into the break.

Bill Elliston of Van Dessel is always a guy to watch out for.

Not a whole lot to report from the Ronde. Eric started a break in the masters races and was caught shortly before the end. He had good legs but the wrong companions in the break. Joe and I missed the whole thing because we were being lazy buying "Sizlin'" sandwiches from wawa. 2 for $3.

In our race, I was pretty active the first 3 laps. Got into a few breaks where I was coughing blood I was riding so hard but to no avail. Had good legs and good riders with me, it's just that the field was pretty active and there wasn't enough wind to really break things up. When you get into a 5 man move with Bobby Lea and John Durso, you'd think you made a good move. Oh well.

There were 3 big teams and it seemed like they were playing their cards well, and we just didn't have the firepower to compete. They would get a few guys off the front, mark bridge efforts, and block. With better legs and smarter tactics, I should have been able to do something, but I think I just need some more strength and pop to compete well.

When I needed some rest, Joe got up front for the last 2.5 laps and kept an eye on things. He made one really nice move to what looked like a solid break (all 3 big teams represented) but some of the freelancers jumped and pulled it all back together. Bobby Lea and a DC Velo guy sneaked away for 1-2 with about 5 miles to go. I spent most of the last lap trying to move up but I was having trouble. I was trying to respect the yellow line rule, even though many other were not. I pushed towards the end but just couldn't find an opening and never got to let loose.

I had a 50 mile race. Break for about 27 miles of it. That was after a 5 mile break and some shorter ones. Not quite ready for break riding as it HURT...
Biggest mistake in getting caught was still rtying to strike out on my own as we were being swallowed up. I should ahve just stayed at the front and accelerated in. As far as I could tell, I was as strong as anyone there and probably could ahve stayed at the front of the race. I will admit, it did hurt though...

So apparently we were mistaken. It wasn't Bobby Lea, it was Michael Chauner. Either way, Joe M wins.

I'm not sure why I thought that. Eric, did you tell me it way Bobby? I've only seen Bobby once, when he was lapping me in a cross race, so I'm not sure why I jumped to the conclusion.

218 is clearly the best: Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! The guy next to Eric looks "nonplussed". What did Eric do to him? I also like the fact the guy took like 30 pics of Britlee. Someone has a stalker-crush!

Let's ignore the results and pretend it was Bobby Lea in first.

And then some other pro in 2nd. Makes my lack of a result sound better.

Here's how I made myself feel better about finishing 28th. I counted the Cat 3's above me and there were only 4. With Mike taking 3rd of the cat 3's. Going to put that one down for my upgrade and I guess I'll have to write in for my prize moneys.

That's awesome Joe. I just got an email from my mom announcing to my sisters that I got "3rd place Cat 3" at Mullica. Woot woot.

What's the deal with the finish on this race, do they close the road for the sprint or is yellow line in effect?
