I heard this morning that the 123field passed the 34 field and that deployment of an extra pace car caused some confusion and grousing that people didn't know what was going on. It would be nice to have a race report.
Thanks guys. My race report doesn't have cool pics like Mike's, couldn't find any online.
Race started at a slow pace, no one really wanted to pull. Specially on the one stretch were the wind was killer. Guys attacked a couple of times but they would dangle on the front for 30 sec max and would get caught again. With 7 laps to go 4 guys broke away and it looked like something that would stick, I jumped from the field and as I was bridging saw that one of the guys from the brake was getting away. I passed the others and went straight to the solo guy. I passed him right away to make a pull and let him know I was there to help. It turn out it was a guy from the 1/2/3, he told me I am not in your field, SO I IMMEDIATELY LET HIM GO.
I just rode on my own, did 2 more laps and then a group of 4 caught me. At this point the field was a bunch of little groups. I worked with that brake for 1 lap, but it was really unorganized. There was a united guy and an organic who seemed like they were good sprinters and were just waiting. Only one guys from the mexican team looked strong. After one lap with them the second group was going to catch us so I attacked again thinking that the mexican guy would follow me. He didn't, I went on solo another 3 laps. While I was solo on these laps groups from the 1/2/3 were lapping us. I never drafted, as a matter a fact with 1 lap to go Jermaine Burrows and a group of 6 were drafting me trying to bridge to the first group. What I did do was use my Triathlon experience and paced my self with the rides in front of me without drafting.
In the end I just made it to the line, the group of 4 that I attacked came in maybe 6 sec back.
I was happy I won but everybody was bickering and crying like a bunch of little girls that I drafted. I would understand if I would have won with the first attack were I didn't know the guy was 1/2/3, but I let him go and got caught. I ended up doing a total of 5 laps solo one of them at 41kms/h and the rest at an average of 38kms/h so take that bitches.
It was funny to see guys who were not even on the brake that almost got me, who didn't even place, pissed off. Also the united guy in the break told me that let me go because he thought I was a 1/2/3. Bullshit, after he caught me with the break and I worked with them for 1 lap you think I am a 1/2/3???
Anyways I have the leaders jersey and lots of enemies now.
