Cat 4s, We've got a smaller than normal field this week. Only 40 pre-registered riders. We have a relatively modest 6 riders out of the pre-registered racers. It looks like many folks will be doing Pawling or are out of town this weekend.
I am in green one more week, and I just need to get one sprint this week and keep Alfonso Torres out of the sprint points, and I've got this sewn up. I am looking to my leadout train of David and Jim to help out there. After we deal with that, I think we should try to set David G up for a post 2nd KOM counter attack. I am willing to kill it like we're gunning for the KOM points and use that to launch David over the top of the hill. We need one more rider to help in the leadout from the bottom of the hill. If that doesn't work we set up for a leadout with everybody we've got and go for the sprint.

I'm in with the 4s - this will be my first 4s race so go easy on me. I may wind up just being pack fill since I haven't raced this distance before.

Craig, I've ridden with you a little lately and you seem to have plenty of form to contribute in the 4's. The back is where the squirrelyness is. Come join us in the front and you'll avoid it and have more fun.

I will hang out near the front (or try to) - that's where all the cool kids are. I won't be attacking or covering attacks most likely. Though I'm happy to break up any chases to a breakaway with a KCC in it.

I am going to stay in the draft most of the race as I want to conserve for Pawling, but will probably attack after the second KOM. Perhaps that is where Jules wants to go as well.

I just realized ive been caught out by the website error too having clicked on the 7th and in effect registered for the 29th.........
Registration now closed and im not here on the 29th. Hopefully they will sort it out tomorrow.

1/2/3's. 58 pre-reg. We've got Eric Robertson joining us. First time this year. Also David Stokes, Joaquin, Vlad, Rene, Daniel. Mengoni looks to have just about everyone, so I figure they're going for green jersey points. Somerville Shop is going for KoM. Not sure how Dioslaki of Metra or Urzedowski of Northeastern Hardware will. But seems like we're going to have a tough time shaking things up until the seond KoM.
Last L&C race, the winning move went at the ampitheatre after the second KoM, and took the second sprint. Don't know if Mengoni would allow that to happen this time, but good to keep in mind.

Charlie began the race with a 30 second moment of silence for Dave Jordan which was touching. All the current and former DJ riders wore DJ kit; which meant some of the ARC guys had Leopard jersey's and ARC bibs; took us all a while to figure it out but it was a classy move.

Cat5, second place bunch sprint.
After the confusion from the website and accidentally signing up to the July 29th race and not this I had to deal with that rather than warming up. Managed 1 lap warm up and only just made it onto the back of the start of the race 10 seconds before we set off. Usual surges and 10 meter heros. No breaks stayed away more than a few seconds.
I mostly sat in the whole race. Coming into the last lap I found the wheel of the guy ive been banging elbows with in the past and planted myself firmly behind it. Leading into the final 400 meters he started moving up. I was just about to jump but unfortunately he flatted with about 200m to go and caused me to slow and dipped my momentum at the same moment as the guy that went onto win took a run on me (was on my wheel) and flew past me. Had a lot to make up but I jumped out the pack, hit mid 1300w then stayed at over 1k for the next 12 seconds until the end trying to claw him back. Connected on his wheel with probably 25m to go and tried to come round him but didnt have it left in my legs.
Overall happy with 2nd but think I need to jump early in the future.
3 or 4 more races and ill come join you boys in the 4s.

1/2/3's. Small field, though not the 58. Probably 70+. We had everyone above minus Joaquin.
Race went kind of as expected. There were a few surprises. going into the second KoM, the field got strung out, with the yellow jersey and other strong riders on the wrong side of the string. I was with the race leader and realized that this was a race that was on the verge of breaking apart. Into teh second sprint, the leadout was kind of intense, and the field was all over the place. I saw Chad Butts (not sure if he's Seymour's brother) roll through after the sprinters. I kept a small gap between us in case he sat up or someone jumped. another 300m past the finish line, he wasn't letting up and no one was joining. so I rolled up to him.
Our group grew from behind. Brian Breach and Augusto from Mengoni. Jermaine and Paul from United. The tall guy from Foundation. Franklin Burgos. Aaron Katin. Some others who were coming through inconsistently. it was a big and unwieldy group, but we rolled. The field sat up.
Guys were skipping pulls. My big concern was Jermaine or Brian jumping. Paul wasn't coming through at all. Augusto only occasionally. Jermaine and Paul got their digs, were pulled back, and every time we went up hill, you could sense people were riding carefully. on the last lap, hard into the hill, eased, hard once over. Eased. Brian and Jermaine cancelled each other out.
At the bottom of the descent, the Foundation guy jumped. I was second wheel, so I wasn't going after him. Figured it was up to Mengoni or United to bring it back. Foundation died out there, and then Brian wound it up for the sprint. Paul and Marcin Wojick of Northeast Hardware suddenly came to life. I was too far back when the sprint started, 9th wheel, moved up one, and that was that. Should have started farther up.
