I"m considering the 123 race in Prospect and then heading up to race Orchard beach 3/4 at 10:45 AM.

Any takers?

I'm racing twice at Orchard Beach.

Cat 4 at 9:35
Cat 3/4 at 10:55

I was disappointed I had to miss that race on Governor's Island last year, so I'm really looking forward to a new NYC racing venue!

and what is this all about - no racing on Sunday? Don't they know all the mothers in the world want nothing more than to celebrate mothers day by watching their sons & husbands race bicycles?

By the way, there is no day-of registration at Orchard Beach. Pre-reg. only.

I'm also considering the L&C Cup / Orchard Beach double.

Cat 4 race in PP ends at 7:30. Anyone think that's enough time to make the 4 race at Orchard Beach at 9:35? If not then I'd probably do the 3/4 at 10:55.

May 12 marks four weeks since my ribs broke. I think I'm mentally ready to race again. As Orchard Beach is a crit course, my body will probably do better with Prospect and the L&C cup.

Training this week will dictate what I think I'll be able to do. I'm guessing that jumping hard will be difficult, but I'll be happy to chase stuff down if I have the legs for it. If we have a big squad, I have no problem riding hard on the early laps.

ragot - any thoughts of taking your 5.75-year-old son up to do the kids race?

i'm registered for L&C, but was thinking might be fun to take sam up to do the 6-year-old race after giving the OBC 4-5 field a go...might be fun if he had a "teammate"....

How technical is the Orchard Beach course?

I'm considering the L&C race and then heading up to the Bronx to see how long I can hang on in 123 race.

I'd rather not do another 3/4 race and the masters go too early.

The idea of doing the 3/4 race is that by being fatigued maybe I'll force myself to race a little smarter. I'll ride for Ragot / Whitey and anyone else in the race.

I will be defending the green jersey in the 4s at L&C, David Vollbach is in polka dots too. I may try to run up to Orchard Beach for the 3/4 but we'll see whether the legs feel ready for that.

I'll be doing L&C going for the sprint finish.

You can take the 6 to the end of the line, its a short ride (2.5 miles) to the course: BIKE ROUTE MAP

If you are driving, its 40 min to an hour from GAP in Brookyln - make your way to the Whitestone Bridge (or Throgs Neck for the LI crowd), and it is exit 5 for Orchard Beach on the Hutch parkway

You can bike it as well (I bike past there regularly) - but I am not sure it is worth the miles before the crit .
