all kissenas accounted for.

sam frias went down with some other guy in the sprint.  both guys walked away though.

Good teamwork. 3rd in sprint off Mihael's wheel... 1st S1, 3rd S2... tired. Patrick had a good break, Jeff C flatted. Mark helped me in S2 although leading it out and running out of gas wasn't some of my best work (edit). I think there were almost some fistycuffs after the crash — erratic move by Frias. Good racing, although we did race like a bunch of wuss's and got caught by the 123.
definitely my best race as a 4 so far.  and that is almost 100% down to the following two reasons:

1) after driving myself crazy losing position in pretty much every race i've been in as a 4, i yesterday read an article on peloton positioning and took away this one piece of advice, which i repeated in my head over and over again during the race.... "if you're not moving forward, you're moving back".  i took the advice to heart and made sure i was always moving forward.  it worked!
2) i switched my garmin from mission control mode with its various reports of power, HR and cadence, and configured a screen that told me nothing but the time of day.  so when it came down to put in big efforts to get to the front / lead out  / etc, i wasn't letting numbers mentally beat me.  i just picked a wheel and went as hard as the situation required.

Great job Mark.

"If you are not moving forward, you are moving backwards," is amongst the best advice I ever got from a former British National CX champion living in Belgium. I parrot it often:

Also, I noticed at T-Town, if folks had computers on their bikes, they were mounted underneath the saddle, or if on the handlebars, the officials walked around making sure they were covered with tape. The only time I would say it makes sense to have access to power/speed/cadence data during a race is during and individual TT.

But you figured that out. Congrats again.
@Mark well done!  I look forward to a return to FBF World Championship Tuesdays next week and lending a hand to John FINALLY after my selfish "quest-for-points"
^ haha.  thanks.  i am not saying my end-result was brilliant (12th) but the manner in which it was achieved was satisfying.
@Mark et. al. Recent blog piece saying suggesting we should dispense with during race power data. (plus a picture of Kittel's PowerControl taped over)

I'm just trying not to throw up during the race, I don't have the chance to look down at my garmin..  ;-)

Awesome lead-out by Foundation, too bad we can't hear the post-crash audio, there was a lot of shouting.

It appears Kissena has the 3/4 teams prize sewn up, how that is calculated remains a mystery.

^ it's based on good looks.  kissena has the handsomest 3/4 team, so is top of the league.
Hey Mark C. - I raced Vollbach style -for the first time-- last week... that is, no computer on the bike. I did have my Strava app running in my jersey pocket for posterity, but no readout in-view. I didn't miss it at all and actually enjoyed the racing much more. I don't look at my Garmin that much while racing anyhow, probably most when I'm in a solo or two or three man break and watching my HR. But somehow the mindset is different -for me- without the computer.

That race was a crit race, so the officials were counting laps for us --thus I didn't need distance readings to judge pre-specified attacks or difficult parts of the race. Whether I'll enjoy a long road race sans computer, I don't know. It does help to know where you are. I'll probably try it.

It's that time of year again...

Please note that we are starting tomorrow's Regional Orthopedic Tuesday Race Series race at Brooklyn's Floyd Bennett Field 10 minutes early tomorrow so we have enough daylight. The Cat 5 race will start at 6:20PM and the Cat 1-2-3 and Cat 3-4 races will start at 6:50PM

it looks like the floyd weather gods had a change of heart.  i'll wait for charlie's 4:30 announcement, then plan to roll out from GAP at 5:45.

Kaaaaaaaaahhhhhhn! Unfortunately unless the next two weeks are rained out, or 3 guys can sit on Lance and beat him out of points, we say goodbye to the green jersey.

The only green for me will be sativa in Amsterdam :B
Paging @Brendan...

It's been canceled, in Mark's words all I can say is... Balls
exactly, aaron.  exactly.
floyd is 2.5 hours away from my new apartment :(

i also may need to return home to mass next week.

but i do want to help john keep the green...

Brendan, Thursday night at Rockleigh is one hour away from your new apartment. It's the last Rockleigh crit of the year. Check it out. I leave around 4:30 to get to the course in time for the first race at 6. I plan to race there this last week.
@Rigby 2.5 hours!? Where are you? Piermont?
I am in the shadow of the GW. W 181st st.
i have to go SOUTH to get on the GW
i'm debating tonight's race.  if i go it'll be my last of the season.  and this was a season with no crashes to speak of.

you now how in cop movies there always one guy that's a day from retirement, he's dreaming of the good life, and then boom -- he gets landed with a bitch of a case and ends up getting murdered?  well that's how i feel about racing tonight, after a crash-free season.

anyway.  anyone going?
Not I
I'm going to race tonight. The good news is that our race probably won't last long. It will likely be the usual ritual beating of the Cat 4s in a combined field race. But we can TTT the grupetto!
Isn't road season over??  I won't be there either way..  :-)
did i seriously LITERALLY miss the whole season? fml
5:55 p.m. GAP.
