Everybody's seen the announcement that Joshua P. Rechnitz will be donating ~$40M to build a velodrome in Brooklyn Bridge Park. This is coming together quickly as the plan is to have this built in 2013 (which is ambitious to say the least). Now we as cyclists/racers have to mobilize to ensure that we get our voice included in this. Part of this is making appearances at the public presentations about the design plans. There are going to be two public presentations in June about the design and plans.
Tues. June 12, at Brooklyn's Boro Hall (convenient to all subway lines [except G]), and on Monday, June 18th at Long Island College Hospital (corner of Atlantic Av and Hicks St, also in downtown Bklyn). Actual times are not yet announced but will be shortly. It probably is not a bad idea for folks to come and take a look at what the plan is. Since this is somebody else's money (not taxpayer money on a park that is more or less entirely privately funded), they can kind of do whatever they want, which is why there are "presentations" not hearings.
