Dear Club,
In discussing hwo we can make the job of our resident race promoter, Charlie Issendorf, a little less stressful, he suggested a Kissena volunteer serving as Marshal Captain for each L&C Cup race.
Here's how he describes the role:
We need a Marshal Captain for this coming Sunday's race (6/24/12) and for the rest of the races this season, which are:
July 7 (Saturday)
July 29 (Sunday)
August 4 (Saturday)
Any volunteers? I imagine that you get at least a free race out of this . . . plus the warm-fuzzies inside.
Please contact Charlie at cibike@aol.com for any other details and post here if you're

Here's how he describes the role:
Beginning with this Sunday, Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup, we are asking for one Kissena member to act as a Marshal Captain at each Prospect Park race we promote. The Marshal Captain will be responsible for making sure all marshals are at their posts and are performing their marshal responsibilities.
Marshal Captain responsibilities:
· The Marshal Captain will arrive by 5:45AM.
· He/She will introduce themselves to the marshals when they are being assigned their locations as the day’s marshal captain.
· Once the race starts, the marshal captain will ride the course throughout the race (a bike is required), checking in with each marshal from time to time to make sure they are ok and to make sure nobody is smoking (yes, it’s becoming a problem).
· The marshal captain will also make sure everything else on the course is ok. For example, picking up any cones that are knocked over, making sure there are no stopped cars on the course etc.
