Chris Conde gets 5th in the CAT 4/5.

It was a nice course.  Not as hilly from what I expected from the area it was in.  Had a good warm up and felt good. Flloyd Bennett Field type winds on the return trip though so that wasn't much fun. Wondering how I could have made up some more time to get to the podium, don't thinks thats possible though avg heart rate was 197 any more and I would have died.  Would have been worth it for the poduim :-) just kidding.  Doing better every year, last year I came in 10th.  Looking foward to next year TT.

nice work, chris

just an fyi: stearns did 220 recently . . . just sayin'

I'm calling this next one "the smile of dejection".

ResBros?
Hence the dejection

turns out that 27mph isn't really that fast

it's also worth adding that, if done right, 10 miles can really do a number on you
Got destroyed!

10 mile TT:
190bpm average
average cadence of 98
22mins54sec

Some peeps there were hella fast but not me apparently!

Now to figure out how to get a bit more slippery in the wind as I don't think my heart can beat much faster or my legs pedal much faster.

Great day out and suggest that everyone get involved. Great work by Vlad and Patrick for some good times.
^^needs less manly chest
Speed Team in yo mutha-fuckin' face!!!

You should not have worn booties.
Ahem, with all due respect, the verdict isn't out on booties yet and I might add that the slowest guy on the Speed Team that day... chose to not wear booties.

I will also add that halfway through the TT, I had to adjust my line slightly to get around some road kill. That road kill ended up being a turtle sliced in two (seriously, and eww). I don't know what that means but I think it means no slowpokes!

Sincerely,

SPEED TEAM
no.1) I don't think this club knows how lucky it is.  Most clubs don't have a TT squad, let alone one stuffed with sexy sneaker pimps like us.  Kissena don't know what it's got.

no.2) I am totally digging the unoffical nickname "Frenchtown Speed Team".  I was talking to Jeff W, our kit guru, and he says that there is a skinsuit (the Apex?) which promises to make me win more TTs.  If I bought said skinsuit, getting "Frenchtown Speed Team" embroidered on it would be glorious.

regards,

SPEED TEAM member
PS: if anyone wants to join the SPEED TEAM, my understanding is that the entry requirements to this elite unit are as follows:

-sign up for TT on bikereg.

There is something awesome about finding the balance of not going so fast in the first 5 minutes that you die in the last 5 minutes. My watts for the first and second halves of the race were nearly even. Yes, a 49/51 split would have been ideal, but given the pull to go too fast too early, I am happy that I spread my mediocre TT skills evenly across 22 minutes. A bonus of riding the cat 4 field was getting to pass 5 guys who started in front of me. Nothing like a carrot to keep you motivated. Another motivator was not wanting to have to be the "speed team" member to have to buy coffee afterwards. I wish I could join you guys at states this weekend
Never going to win one, but the NY state champion jersey is actually pretty good IMO:

Maybe at the road race the week after....

It doesn't seem that anyone other than Adam and myself understand just how hard it was to only lose 7:47 to Mike Margarite on this day.
What's up with the 4/5 results?
They were still out on the course when ours were posted.
Vlad, breaking the hour is an achievement. Plus you lost 6:47. If you spent a day a week on your TT bike and trained 350+ miles a week like Mr Weather Channel I'd bet you'd be easily riding somewhere in the range of 54-56 40k's.
Yes!!! I gained a minute thanks to good teammates!

Looking to get some more time and more comfortable on the TT bike for sure Johnny. I'll be back.
p.s. didn't wear booties this go around
Was it flat?
