Didn't see a thread so I figured I would post the Prospect Park Challenge race report from this morning here. Lined up with about 30 riders (Vlad and I from Kissena) at 6:30 in a light drizzle and by the time we started it was full on raining. The race was shortened from 15 laps to 13. Off to a slower start but punchy. Vlad and I took turns covering moves. About 5 laps in a group of 6 riders got away I thought Vlad was up in the break but I was mistaken. We took turns attacking but no one wanted to work. Then we decided to try two up attacking hoping that maybe we could work together to get across. No luck.
We the filed had been split in to about three groups and I was in the last one. Our group bridged up to the the second. They slowed a little so I kept going and a group of 5 formed. 2 Champ-Sys guys(I think they had a total of 5 or 6), Jordan Racing, Toga, and myself. We worked together well while one of the champ-sys guys sat on the back and got within 30 seconds of the lead group. A JV racer bridged up then hit the gas with 3 to go I popped off the back chased/ tt'ed for two laps to come in 11th..
All in all it was a fun race and it's so much fun to race in the rain during the summer.
Yeah, tons of fun in the rain this morning. We were active early but missed the winning move. ChampSys held it down. Gavi won it, but a lot of their strong guys were there to control just about everything. Mueller got close but it wasn't meant to be. I was in a group of 8ish right behind Joe's that wound up being 4 deep when it was all said and done.
Ahhh... My race report for the 4s goes something like this: I woke just before the alarm set for 4am and shut it off so I wouldn't wake my wife. I lay there listening to the rain thinking "pack a cape, should I wear a hat"?
A moment later my wife asks me if Im going to be late for the race - I look at the clock and its 5:49...
