haha no...i just don't have the fortitude to race in the morning then do work all day. i have a big assignment due on tuesday so i need sunday to work on it. you are stronger men than i!

i tried doing work after a race and i just started at a blank word document then started browsing the sales section on competitive cyclist.  for like 4 hours.  the next time i tried it i ended up having a beer at 3 pm.  what willpower?

As a (very-soon-to-be-finished) grad student I can fully second Brendan's attestation - there have been many Saturdays after a race where I've sat on my couch all afternoon with my books in my lap, perfecting my 100-yard stare.

I'm registered.

@ Hubbard and other Brooklyn folks - anyone want to meet up at the brooklyn bridge for the ride up together?
If I'm not completely wiped out from Millbrook, I'll meet up.  What time?
I'm in for 5 this Sunday.  Does anyone have a m/l jersey I can borrow for the day (unless the kit order has magically arrived)?  I'll repay in muffins/muffintops.

Alex, I can get you a M if u want. You anywhere near Park Slope?
Awesome, thanks! I'm in Prospect Heights. I can stop by wherever would be convenient for you.  alex.vaughan@gmail.com if you want to chat offline.
Whoops, looks like I actually forgot to register, and Cat5 is closed.  Nevermind Ros, but thanks!

Who is racing this weekend 4/13-14?

Saturday is Prospect.
Sunday is a crit at FBF.

I'm in for both 1/2/3 events.
@mugwump - The flyer says Saturday Central Park
I'm doing 3/4 Central Park Saturday. Rahway Sunday. See you all there.
I'll be doing my first cat5 race (with kissena) this saturday, anyone else in cat 5?

Also, is there anyone that might be able to lend a guy a medium sized jersey (old or new)? I'd be willing to put it in my laundry afterwards.

In the words of Lumbergh, "that'd be great, thanks."

Edwin

I wish it was in Prospect Park.

Bikereg says Central.
Central Park is less prone to cock-ups, because the gap between the packs is larger.. It's worth the extra 30 min of travel time in my opinion. Having said that,  I have no intention of patronizing van Dunk again any time soon.
bummer.  sort of.  I had mentally prepared myself for Prospect.

Central Park is good for tactical racing. Harder to just muscle yourself away from the field. Take advantage, sharpen your racing brain.
I am signed up for masters on saturday.  sort of hoping everyone else is sleeping in for battenkill :)
@Wump no more Bkill after last year's debacle?
Weird, my comments have been disappearing...

@Edwin Ortiz - I'm hoping to do both CP and FBF in the 5s.  Don't have a kit myself unless the order is delivered by Friday.
I'm planning to do the 3/4 race on Saturday. What time should we meet up at BB?

What?  Jeff?  No Battenkill?  What is going on with the world?

@David our prayers might be answered tomorrow... If not ill just tape a piece of paper on my helmet that reads "KISSENA"... I just hope ill look half as cool as this guy http://24.media.tumblr.com/e94c504363f006f91d05ba5023b51e3a/tumblr_mknb31qEkv1rqrqs1o1_400.jpg

The debacle was not the deciding factor.  I was leaning heavily toward going for quite some time, but decided I should try to find some different out of town races for this year.

Maybe next year.  It would be fun to do it with teammates.

I know. I admittedly kind of wussed out on this. I've been having GI issues since December that have made me feel like I wasn't ready. Plus I was off the bike for a week on family vaca. I know, I know...excuses, excuses.  Looking to man up at Quabbin, Turkey Hill or Hunter in the next few weeks pending family schedule.

I'm up for a Brooklyn Bridge Saturday meet up. I will confirm tonight, I have house guests so I want to make sure i get to bed at a decent hour.

Race starts at 6:30. I have no idea what time that means we should be at BB. Anyone?
fuuuuuudge, oops, thought I registered for this weekend, but didn't.  I may ride up to see if there's an open spot anyway.

5:30 = at CP registration table/pinning numbers by 6?
i like to drive in.  can take 2 with me.  leaving BK at 5.
I was planning to ride there as a warm up. 5:00am BB?
I'm out. In for sunday for sure.100%
What's up everyone? Here's an early race report from a cat 5-er. It was my first race and I woke up an hour later than I wanted to (nice). Didn't have time for a proper breakfast or warm-up before the race. I felt good regardless, i took almost a whole week off in an effort to taper for more intense riding.

I met two other Kissenas there, Wes was the only cat 5 I saw. He did a really good job staying near the front most of the race. I was mostly trying to stay in a place where my wheels wouldn't get chopped by a spotty bike handler and where I wouldnt be a danger to anyone. I was getting tired of being near the back and manned up to near the front in the middle of the second lap of three.

There were attacks mostly from a couple of foundation guys but they were unsuccessful. I remembered some stuff from Marc's CP workshop and mentally prepared for attacks at certain spots (e.g. after Harlem hill descent) I was able to close up a couple of gaps at the back.

Ended up in a field sprint, Foundation guy won, Wes fades toward the end, I use the sprint as practice. It was a good race as I managed to have my tires be the only thing to touch the road and realized my fitness is at a good place. I'll be racing again next week.

I ducked out early before the other races ended for a proper breakfast with my gf. I hope everyone else finished safely.

That's all from my end. Peace.
