Thought I'd get this going for general/specific discussions. Seems like we've got some excitement brewing. At least on my end. As bigger events come up, they'll probably get their own threads, and we should continue to use the Mentoring thread for specific announcements, discussions regarding mentor events etc.
@Kieran. What's especially exciting about the possibility of this year to me, is that if we, as a team can find shades of our past glory, and combine forces...we might be able to make an impact and have some real fun. Some of the most fun I ever had team racing came on the track when a few strong "roadies" raced in support of a super strong local crit/track racer and fair to good national caliber racer and we kind of dominated points races at the end of the night. And I don't mind boasting that we had a guy or two with stars and stripes national sprint champion jerseys get "handled" by our scrappy bunch. Chasing around a more well-rounded track/crit racer in Robbie Ventura (the "K-Town Motor") wasn't always as successful, but the lessons learned...
Of course, I'm just bloviating from my oversized belly right now; stroking my unkempt overgrown grey beard reminiscing about ye olden times. It's going to be major baby-steps for me. I guarantee you...I will be terrified on all the turns every time I first take my warm-up laps every week and if I'm lucky, by mid-season, I'll have some old-school swagger back. It will help, you know, if you get back on top of your game too. Because if we've got a strong sprinter to work for....shheeeeeet. That is the shizzle.
