I signed up for the Cat 4 grant's tomb race on Saturday!

Awesome Jill! Bummer its my Saturday to work work work work....Good luck! Looking forward to reading everyones race reports...
call in a sickie ;)

:) is it going to be way intense? I'm scared and am going to go broke
entering races but I feel like I should try
i sooooo wish i could call in sick....fortunately theres lots of racing to be had this year...
Do it Delna....it sounds like this one is worth going broke over  ;)

Haha okay in that vein of going broke...I just heard back from Chris saying
that they won't do returns on champ sys gear (there was some confusion
about whether there might be an exception). I have a small size wind vest
and a medium size winter jacket--both are super nice and have never been
worn (tags still on)--they're just too big for me. Might anyone on here be
interested? Holler if so!
It'll be fun!  Also, good chance to cheer on the guys after our race.  When you sign up, we'll have the biggest team in the field once again this week ;)
Peoples!
What about coming out to the Kissena Velodrome to work on sprinting and leadouts and more?

Im so in! I got lost the last time I went to Kissena so I might need directions or need to ride with someone from Manhattan...
I'm not going to lie, riding into Eastern Queens from points west is kind of a PITA.  If you want to do a combo of public transport + bike, you can take the 7 train out to Flushing Main Street and then ride the rest of the way (relatively straightforward).

I think Eloy takes LIRR partway to and from Cunningham which is a stones throw from the track so he may have some good advice on how to get to Kissena Park easily from Brooklyn.

I'm willing to meet up with people at Flushing (or even west of Citifield) and guide them to the track, just let me know.

Julie,
I'm sure I'm going from Manhattan. I take the 59th street bridge and know my way along the on-street bike paths.  I used to take Northern Blvd a ways, which made directions much simpler.
I've come down with a pretty good cold :(  Still hoping to be at Grant's - did my pre race workout today, but felt kind of crappy.  As long as I don't feel worse tomorrow, I'll be there.
noooooooooooo!!!! Feel better!!!!!
Feel better Jill! Good luck tomorrow everyone!!! Cant wait to read the race reports!!
Race Report:
Woke up this morning, felt fatigued and was still hacking from this stupid cold virus, sat on my couch until 7:20 (plan was to leave the house by 7:30am) contemplated whether or not racing was going to happen.  Got the computer out to write an email apologizing to my teammates for not showing up, deleted email, closed computer, got dressed in Kissena kit, and left the house.

Decided that I wanted to go hard off the start, so I ended up leading for the first 2.5 laps, and then again for the 4th lap and some other laps there in between.  It was pretty sweet because we dropped half of the field on the first lap!  I later paid for this early enthusiasm because I was pretty beat by the end of the race (also probably due to the cold).  I still hung on to the peloton, but there was nothing left in the tank for a sprint.  I learned that it's fun to start the race at a high pace, but perhaps it would be better to have ducked in after the first lap to let someone else lead.

About midway through the race, I realized that I had forgotten to ditch my water bottle and flat kit at the start and that I had not eaten my gel (my brain was not functioning at a high level this am).  Regardless, I'm glad that I decided to race this morning.  I feel like I learn a lot every race, and it's really fun to have teammates!  Again, we were the largest team in the field with 4 Kissena Women!  So awesome!  Now, we just need to work on some team strategy.

Next race is March 26th in CP!  Looking forward to it.
Awesome job!! Cant wait for the next one! Sick and still kicking butt...

Tbh, no butt was kicked except my own. #notmovingfromthiscouch

Hey Ladies!  Here are a few races so far that I have my eye on.  Also, all of the open races in CP and probably Green Mountain Stage Race in Vermont to close the season.  It was so much fun last year.  I highly recommend doing it.
I would definitely do Battenkill if I were going to be around, but unfortunately that is the weekend of my Oral Pathology Fellowship exam :(  May 21st, I think.
Hi all,

I can probably do the Army Spring Classic, and if I don't I'll do the CRCA
race that morning instead.

I may do Battenkill, as well. If not, the CRCA park race.

There's also a chance I'll do the CRCA race on 8.20

I'm going away this week and will be off the bike for almost three weeks.
I'll likely be in wretched shape for the 4.9 park race, but will play it by
ear.

Grant's Tomb pics look great! Can't wait til we're all riding together
again!

Good call, Kaley, I'll probably also do the CRCA Women's Dev series instead since they are easier to get to.  But, we should all do a stage race together!
Agree!

Unfortunately I can't do Green Mountain because I'll be doing a tri that
weekend, but it's only about an hour away so I can definitely come watch
the final day!

Oh shoot, you should skip the tri ;)
We need ladies to volunteer to help lead the Meet Kissena Ride on March 26th at 9am!  Please, please, please.  There are 2 prospective women signed up at this time to ride.
I will be out of town..

But if we need people for the 4.16 ride, and we wait until after the CRCA
race that day, I can totally do that ride.

Great, Kaley!  It will be after the CRCA race, we'll all have to head there straight after the race!  Glad you can make it.
Unfortunately I literally have to gun it to work after that race...otherwise I would definetly do it
Ladies,
In case you haven't been paying attention to other threads, the following will be a good one to check out (and come to).
