And @Jeffrey White and I are getting hitched on June 12th, so the 11th won't work for us.

Ha, AWESOME has been clicked :-) Really keen on Sunday, just need to sort out a plan for the day.

What kind of time do you think we'll be back in Brooklyn @mugwumap ?

That old 'wedding the next day' chestnut @jillsink ;-)
Good luck this weekend on your races!

Good question.  Between 12 and 1 I suppose.

Philadelphia Cycling Classic

CANYON//SRAM IN NEW YORK

After the Philadelphia Cycling Classic we'll be hosting a panel discussion with CANYON//SRAM pros at Cycle Club New York, on Friday June 6th. RSVP for your place.

this is Monday, June 6th.
When i started cycling , Beryl was a household name

Burton was a force both on the track and the road and is thought to be the most successful British female cyclists ever. During her career, she won two world titles in the road race and five in the individual pursuit on the track and taking another eight trips to the podium for both silver and bronze medals. Her domination, specifically on the track, was such that between 1959 and 1973 she was only once missing from the podium.

In 1967, Burton set the 12-hour record, beating the best men's time to boot. It would be two years before anyone – man or woman – could better it. Despite her success, Burton never turned professional and remained an amateur throughout her career.

Her last national solo time trial titles were achieved in 1986 at 49 years old

Weekend Race Reports

CRCA W's Dev 3/4 Race
It was an extremely humid early morning in CP.  We had 16 in our field and the course was 5.5 laps with a W 98th St. finish.  This is a good finish for me because it's not too far after the uphill on Harlem Hill.  The first attack was by a really weak woman on the women's development team, so we let her wear herself out a little bit by herself.  Then, once we caught her, there was a counter attack by a strong woman on rockstar, she was starting to get away after a minute, so I decided to try and bridge, but ended up pulling the whole field with me.  On the second to last uphill I decided to attack, got a little gap and then was brought back.  Everyone was gunning it up the last hill, I ended up losing contact with the top 3.  I dug deep and kept going, but had to break as there was a large tree trimming vehicle in the middle of the course!  I got around that and saw that the woman who had pulled the field up the hill was dying, so I put my head down and went as hard as I could and caught her right at the finish line for 3rd.  I really wish I had stayed on that wheel up the last hill, but I'll do that next time.

Jersey Devil
Our start was delayed about 45 minutes, so at 1:30 when we began it was getting pretty hot out.  The course is a 4.4 mile loop that we did 6 times and it starts with a little kicker that gets up to 12%, then flattens out and then pitches up for a long grind for the next couple of miles.  I decided to climb my own speed on the first uphill and then got a pretty good gap after the first lap, but as I was coming through the start finish the second time I was startled to see that there were two women on my wheel.  Apparently, 3 had organized a chase and were working well together to catch me, but the 3rd woman got dropped.  So, we worked together until the second to last hill when the strongest climber of our group went ahead.  I started to feel my legs cramping and my back burning on the last climb and lost the woman that I was working with.  The three of us ended up coming in solo and I ended up 3rd.

All in all a good weekend of racing and excellent training for GMSR.  Also, I finally decided to upgrade to Cat 3.
HELL YEAH.
Resurrecting this thread.

I'm told we're not rolling deep this year, but are any ladies planning on Limerock, Orchard Beach, or Bear Mountain in the coming weeks?
I may be able to be convinced to do Bear Mountain! In running shape now but
definitely up for doing something later in the summer too.

I've got a car that weekend and room for another 2 bikes and people if that helps sway you towards racing!
I'm registered for the 3/4/5 and the 2/3 at Orchard Beach.
Also in for 3/4/5 and 4/5.
Calling all Kissena women, Ulrike our NY state crit champ has kindly volunteered to co-host a women's team skills clinic.

We're open to requests and tailoring to the group, but thinking basics: cornering, positioning, braking, maybe a few skills like track stand and bumping on grass. We'll also try to cover team tactics specific to our local race courses.

Location TBD, but top candidates right now are early morning in CP or weekend at the closed(ish) circuit at Rockleigh on way to Piermont.
In for it, back in NY early next week!
This sounds great! I'm down.
Is early morning CP doable for you two?
Works for me.

Tess, if you are Brooklyn based I can meet you at the Brooklyn Bridge and ride with you. Its great practice for early wake ups for CRCA races.

@cristinawoolston yes let's ride!
Awesome. I'll sort out mornings that can work and send an email to the women's team.

Post here if there's some specific skill or drill you'd like to work on.
These videos are good fodder: https://www.youtube.com/user/globalcyclingnetwork
If you scroll down here you'll see they have a bunch of "How to's" that we could work on.

Let us know here what you prefer: Wednesday or Thursday morning this week 6:30am for 1hr clinic. We'll meet at Tavern on Green in Central Park (on the loop).
In for Thursday!
Ulrike and I are cohosting a 1 hour women's clinic this Thursday morning. Meet at 67th St Tavern on Green in Central Park, June 15 @ 6:30am. If you can come earlier we'll start riding at 6:00-6:05am from same spot.

We're proposing the basics: cornering, positioning, braking, maybe a few skills like track stand and bumping on grass (if we have time and can find a spot). We'll also try to cover team tactics specific to CP. It's possible we can cover a particular skill you'd like to master, just post here.

These GCN "how to" videos are a fantastic resource: http://bit.ly/2sTIEbO

Hope to see you there, please RSVP here.
Christina, looks like we have a grand total of one attendee. Let us know what you'd like to focus on and preferred start time (6 or 6:30).
@JohnMalcolmson and @UlrikeGlaser I'm out of town. Is there any way to move this clinic to next week?
Works for me. Christina and Ulrike?

Btw, if you "star" this thread it will email you when something new is posted to it...
