I posted a poll for two dates next week (Mon & Weds) for the OSMO Nutrition conference call. Please vote which night you'd prefer.
Bumping the note about the conference call for the OSMO nutrition conference call. If next week isn't feasible for the majority of the group I can set something up for later (Feb / Mar for instance). Just let me know.
I've postponed the OSMO call and will reschedule it in a few weeks.
Cross posting; ex Kissena Britlee Bowman just took 5th in her field at Nationals today!
The Aussies do seem to do a great job of supporting & covering women's cycling.

Ladies! CRCA just posted their 2014 women's development series. Lots of races (7 of 'em, mostly in CP) means lots of opportunities for KCC ladies to ABSOLUTELY CRUSH IT.

Registration opens March 1: https://www.bikereg.com/Net/22377

Great minds, Gwynna! Our fearless leader and Kissena Women's Team Mentor Dale Suttle is free the first week of February for a team meeting to discuss training strategies through spring 2014.

Please fill out the poll here so we can find a convenient date for everyone. Location TBD, but the locale in question will be close to a transportation hub and bridges to better accommodate the folks coming from Manhattan.

There will also be a general information questionnaire sent out to everyone via email. Filling it out before we meet will help Dale get an idea of what your individual goals are, and how he might help you reach those. Be on the lookout for that this week.
Hello All,

As you may have seen from the posts above, I'm going to be mentoring for the Women's Team this year.  What all this entails is a little bit TBD, but I hope to provide advice, guidance, tips, and tricks for riding and racing your bike.  As Kayt mentioned we are hoping to get together very soon and discuss plans and goals for the year.  And when it gets a little warmer, we can do some on the bike teaching/training sessions.  Until then if you have any questions, feel free to post them here or PM me. I hope to me you all at the meeting or on the bike soon!

Cheers.

Dale

Anyone have an email address for Danielle? Isn't / wasn't she on the team?
I have that wrist guard and bone stimulator machine to pass on to her if she needs it for her broken wrist.
Hi team,

I'm in for the meeting. I'm not yet on my bike outside but I started back on my trainer : )
It will be fun to see you all

Daniella
Daniella there you are! Do you want that wrist guard and bone stimulator thing? If so I'll hope to see you at the meeting or maybe I can give them to Jessica at Ride to pass on to you if it turns out I can't make it?
Hi Meridith.

I'd love to see them and would love to borrow them if I can use them. I
have to ask my doctor if I can or not. Thank you!
Lets try for both of us meeting at the team meeting and if that doesn't
work, I can coordinate with you and pick it up from you when it's a more
convenient time, perhaps?

Daniella

Hey Daniella,
That sounds great. I can also ask if I can leave them at RIDE Brooklyn for you to pick up another time.
MM
Ladies, if you haven't done so already, please fill out the online poll so we can determine a day and location for the Winter/Spring training meeting. As of now, next Thursday seems like the most popular date.

We'll figure out a way to pass along the information to anyone who can't attend, or schedule a follow-up ride + information session

Also, bump to fill out Dale's handy questionnaire
The women's team meeting details:

Date: Thursday, Feb. 6 (that's this coming Thursday)

Location: Hungry Ghost at 253 Flatbush Ave, one block walk from the Bergen 2,3 stop; a doable walk from Atlantic Ave/Barclay's Center (NOT the Ft Greene location).

Time: 7 PM. If someone can volunteer to arrive a little earlier than that to claim the large table that will easily accommodate our group, that would be swell.

See you there!
Ladies! I just wanted to say that this winter has been tough, but I've seen you in the park, in the wormhole, on Strava, on Instagram, at pancake houses... and with weather like today's, it's hard to believe, but road season begins in one very short month's time. The first CRCA Women's Cat 3/4 race is March 8th. (BTW, registration opens on March 1st and pre-registration is required.) Come the evening of March 7th, I'll be degreasing and re-lubricating my drivetrain, checking and double-checking my brake pads, lovingly running baby wipes all over my frame, and (hopefully) debating between a long sleeve base or arm warmers... all the while teetering with excitement about rolling up to the line with this group of kickass women!

Oh, and remember tomorrow's Women's Team Meeting!

Hello All,

I hope to see you there.  I can arrive a little early and try to get the big table.  See you soon.

Thanks to all everyone for braving the cold last night; and a big thanks to @Dale for a productive and educational meeting. I will have notes and the calendar for everyone by Saturday.

Just wondering if anyone on the women's team would like to totally jack the idea of the Stan's No Tubes team Presented by BrittLee and have a running series of pictures introducing you to the world by posting them on Facebook?

I've been following 14 women 14 days (that's what she said!) too. Think it would be a great idea for the ladies who feel comfortable participating. Position it as the new beginning of the KCC ladies team. We'll need a baller hashtag.

Wondering which races / series the KCC ladies are planning to participate in? We might just be more cohesive than we think. (I started adding notes to Dale's doc but I'm on a mobile this weekend so the UX wasn't the greatest.) Out of town races are a commitment but park races are great for getting your race feet wet. I'm in for R&A in PP and CP w3/4 dev series... Plus Battenkill, Giro de Cielo (not THAT far away), Tokeneke, and a few NE stage races.
Also, Stans is registered for the 3/4 at Battenkill, so we won't be racing them. And we'll kick their asses in the other races. Have faith!
@Gwynna - Races are about so much more than pedaling power. People win races ALL THE TIME against competitors who could destroy them head-to-head.

(First post to the women's thread!)

Erika and all,

How many women on the team are a) planning on racing CP on the 8th and b) interested in doing a mentor-led pre-race course ride-through/break-down?

I was intending on doing my annual Central Park Clinic on the weekend of the 14th, the weekend before what I thought was going to be the first CP women's series race. But, will happily shift dates around to accommodate interest?

For those who aren't too familiar with racing in central park, it might surprise you to know that while it is the city's longest circuit, it also races most like a crit. The winding, dipping and diving 10k loop makes strategy especially important as it is harder to muscle your way away from the field.

Let me know so I can plan accordingly. Thanks!

@Marc, I'm definitely interested. CP can be such a tricky beast, the more strategy and insight, the better!
