YO! Who's racing Saturday, the 19th? What are transpo options?

Dave is that your way of asking for a ride?

I can do Sunday. Let me check the soccer schedule for Saturday... It's possible, but cutting it close to leave Brooklyn at 9:30 for an 12:15 race (1-2-3).

I'll be in for Sunday.

I'm probably Sunday for this one. Also slim chance for Saturday. I'll know more definitively later this week.

I am planning on doing both days and would love to snag rides out. I don't think I'll have car access that weekend.
@mperlberg, half asking for a ride, half just seeing if people know the best way to get there via public transportation. Obviously a ride would be dope.

Hey is anyone buddy-buddy with the Marty promoter? It's really time to get with the program. Even if you refuse to worship at the Church of Crossresults.com, you need to decide how you are going to do call-ups and publish them for all to see.

Exactly how many hedges can the Marty promoter put in two sentences?

"Call-ups will only be awarded by promoter discretion. We will try to utilize the series standings and registration order."

"Promoter discretion!" "We will try..." To quote Yoda, "Do. Or do not. There is no try."

Done are the days when we raced cross just so we didn't have to find some other activity to keep us busy in the fall/winter. We are not satisfied going out there just riding around in the dirt/mud regardless of our results. WE ARE HERE TO RACE CROSS because cross IS boss. Our start line position MATTERS. Your call up protocol MATTERS.

okay, end mini-rant.
^times two.
Anyone have room for a spectator on Sat 10/19?

I'm doing the 10:15 am race both days. Anyone going to an early race and have room for me?

I think I can take you on Sunday. Luka will be coming and I can get him up and out relatively early. You'll just watch him when I race. Though I'll have a hard time warming up... Umm, time looks good for me to get a short warm up in...

So we can take you on Sunday.

I'm signed-up for the Saturday B race.  Would love to hitch a ride.

If not, @Vollbach, @Perlberg, @Joe, let's rent a car.

Gotta start somewhere.  I think I'll debut my 2013 cross at one of the Sunday races.
I'm signed up for this one, too. Cat 4 both days.

@WilliamDC - You're a 3 in CX? I thought the B race at Marty's is cat 3 only.

I'm going to take the CX bike to the park on Wednesday and see if I can manage a race. If so I'm pretty sure I'm in for Sunday but not exactly sure which race yet.
I'll be driving my scooter there! reg-ed for sat at least.

@Marc - re call up protocol from the promoter

I will change this wording to say something more direct. We are planning on using the NJ series standings for call ups. The NJBA should have a list early this week. Registration order would be second to the standings.

Sorry for the confusion.

Cool. Now we know. Thanks for poking the promoter on this! Now I have to decide which category to race.
If my family doesn't go, Sure. Better yet, if you can hang with my son for a bit, and he goes, I'm your driver...

Hey guys I'll be doing the cat 4 C race at 2:45 both days for Marty. I live about 30 minutes away from the race. if anybody needs to be picked up at any of the path train station stops in New Jersey or need a place to crash send me a message
I have room for 3 or 4 people in my Honda civic and 2 extra bikes on a roof rack and to 2 other bikes on a rear rack
Looks like I'm in for Saturday for the 40+ race at 11:30. I don't mind heading out there early if folks need rides to an earlier race.
I'll be out there spectating on Saturday. Keep an eye out for doughnut and beer handups.

short report: I sucked.

I decided 15 minutes before the race to get a last second pre ride lap in. Bad move. Rolled my fango right off the rear wheel.

Ran to the pit, put on my file tread from my pit bike. I thought it would be OK at low pressure.

I took the hole shot but by "took it" mean i slid through it pretty out of control. Eeek. This file tread ain't gonna work. The course was just too fast.

I was in 5th place going into the steep ride-up/ run-up. I figured I needed a lot of speed to make it up without having to run on the file tread. BLAM. dumped it hard.

Eventually I got Jim's rear wheel. The pit bike wouldn't have worked because I had a file tread on the front. My ankle gradually swelled and throbbed until I basically had to walk over the barriers.

I got lapped. Mercy. Thank you. Ouch. I was hoping for a top 5.

I'm walking gingerly and icing it right now. Not sure about tomorrow, but I might give it a go if I'm able to run. I'll need some rear wheel solution though.

I have a Limus rear. It just needs a cassette swap.
@Perlberg that sucks.  Stuff your foot in a bucket of ice and get in line for some Pappy VW to ease the sting?
Don't ride with an injured ankle. It isn't worth the increased recovery time. Ice, Advil and beer are indicated (you can cheer your teammates).
