Has anyone done the Highpoint Hill Climb? If so, 25 or 28?

I've done Highpoint several times. You should be fine with a 25. There's only one notably steep ramp, right at the end, but it's only a few meters long. You're better off sprinting through it in a bigger gear.

One other note about highpoint: if parking is the same as years past, the start is a solid 10 to 15 minute ride from the parking lot. You'll basically ride most of the way down the course to the start. Make sure to factor that into your warmup schedule. Getting to line for a tt is always a scramble, and the proximity of the start line makes this one tricky.

High Point was the very first race I did, back in 2009. Sleet and fog forced them to close it midway through - I got hypothermia coming back down, and spent about 40 minutes huddled in the foot well of my car with the heat on max. Good times.

Ryan, I had a time that was probably good for the win as a 4, but I'll never know because I missed my start by several minutes. Aaaaaand, that explains my comment above. It's, like, a surprisingly long ride to the start.

Oops. Sleet was in 2008. In 2010 it was so hot thar Whitey and I got sunburns warming up shirtless on our trainers at 9am...

I did this race last year. It was a 3/4 field though (the only one open to non-NJ residents). This course looks different though. We started at Elwood road, then right on Weekstown Road then right on Elwood-Weekstown Road (a triangular course). This year's course looks like it shifted down south a little bit.

Got that on my calendar as well as this jam on May 18th

What does the "Senior" mean? I thought this was just a Masters thing, but i guess not. I didn't see the elevation on here, does anyone know how hilly the new course is?

In my interpretation of the word, senior is the opposite of junior (as in open).

Juniors are 18 and under.

Espoirs are 19-23 or 26

Seniors are everyone else basically.

Bumping this thread up for those interested in joining us for Somerville race weekend May 24-26th. We are doing a share house in the Somerville area- Details to come. Calling all tough guys. Looks like Chris Thater in Binghamton NY is switching it up. New course! It's been a hilly technical course around a pleasant park/neighborhood for spectators for as long as I've been here in NYC, but apparently, it used to be downtown on city streets.

The thing that should interest especially cat 2s, is that on Saturday, there are standard 2/3 and 35+ masters options (double up at your own risk). The Pro 1 race that day is NCC, which means, you know actual pros to watch race.

THEN, and here's where it gets interesting...Sunday is a Pro 1/2 race. Not all of the NCC point hunters will stick around for both days, but there will be enough of them so that you can tell your significant other with plenty-o-giddy that you raced against real pro bike racers.

Also tons of other categories. Everyone gets to play at this weekend. FWIW, it's late enough in the season that those of you looking for a leg-speed tune-up for GMSR and/or starting strong at Nittany CX, should consider spending the weekend in "scenic" Binghamton the weekend of August 23/24.

Thater is one of the best crits. You should race it. If it's NCC, it's for me!
