"Can't Miss" CX Races 2014

Craig just rode the shit out of the Wilmington Grand Prix 2/3 race today. The rest of us, not so much. Kudes bro.
That race was seriously harder than the majority of 1/2/3 races I've done in my life. It was ON from the word go.

Proof: Normalized Power for 1 hour: 319 Watts.

If anyone has pictures or video from today I'd be interested to see what it looked like. There was a crash every other lap it sounded like behind me. One guy rode into another guy into some hay bales in a corner for seemingly no reason. And this was in the top 10. Nowhere was safe.

Placed 22nd in the front group field sprint. Money went to 20th. What can you do? Got a free sandwich and Gatorade from the deal. Also saw many Kissena's outside the city for a change which was awesome. Rumor has it this was the old Tour DuPont course from way back.

Overall- Fun race/trip down. Would definitely do it again. Thanks, Ragot for driving and Stokes for the conversation.

What Craig did is super fucking hard.
Hey Vlad, when I try to watch the video it says it's private. How can I see this thing?

Lots of good pain faces.

It's been a few years since I've done Riverton, because of the White Plains date conflict, but our whole family really enjoyed racing here two years ago. Nice neighborhoody crit. Technical. I wish Riverton were this weekend, so I could do both. If White Plains isn't on your to-race list, consider RIverton.

The p12 start list looks like its an ideal place to do some drug testing.

Hey everyone, this coming weekend there are a couple of nice racing opportunities. In addition to Saturday's PP or CP action, SUNDAY is the big day. What's so big about SUNDAY?

Well, it's the NEW YORK STATE CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIPS in nearby White Plains, NY. It's great course, with some elevation changes, some real turns, but nothing crazy. Safe course, but not "too easy" like Somerville. But really the big thing here is that because it's the state Champs, there are state championship jerseys on the line for almost every category you could think of. (Sorry Cat 5s, you get to race, but not for a jersey).

  • Women cat 4s....uhm, hello Kayt? You would look totally dope in state champ jersey.
  • Men 35+/45+...we race together, but get separate jerseys. JP would sparkle in state champ colors. Ragot has his eye on the 35+ (I don't have the heart to tell him that it's all mine!)
  • Men 55+/60+...again, they race together but get their own jersey. Calling David Stokes!!!
  • Men Cat 4...you could team-up and rally around one, or just beat the snot out of each other and see who comes out on top.
  • Men 3/4...3s race for the jersey, 4s already had a shot at racing for their jersey, so should be in this race for support. Would be nice to get a strong team together to rally around Craig or Andy.
  • Men 1/2/3...this will be a very fast affair. Vlad's ready to throw-down with the big-boys...anyone else?

I want multiple state champions folks, and we've got the legs. No doubt. We'll need a little luck too, but there's no reason why we cant have 2 or 4 state champions on our club after this coming weekend. OKAY??? OKAY!!!

Bump.

Anyone doing Hunter Green race on Saturday June 28th? Looking for a ride up early that morning. Prob have to leave NY at 5am to get there for the start. (2 hour drive up)

More info: https://www.bikereg.com/hunter-mountain-summer-classic--2014-nys-road-race-championships
Also FYI- Fees for Mengoni GP go up June 21st from $40- $45. Same for Lou Maltese (June 23rd) and Cap Region (Jul 1st). Reg early to avoid getting beaten for the extra $5!
Any Cat 5's interested in this race? 2pm start time is much more palatable (though it could be hot).

I guess it's not a can't miss race after all, huh Gwynna?

What do people think about capital region?

It's on my calendar. Been considering the 123, though not completely decided just yet. Reg fees go up after today, correct?
I registered for that race
Pre-ride the finish if you've never done it before; it's a gnarly climb and it gets narrow fast.

What do people think about capital region?

It's been many years since I've done Battenkill...but would calling it Battenkill without the dirt roads and quick-sand pits at the bottom of 40-mph descents be accurate?
Anyone want to get spanked by some pro track sprinters at Floyd tomorrow?

Jk

I wish. Rest week.
While we're at it, anyone up for an 8+ hour round trip for some 4 corner crit action in MD?

i could be down as well.
Would flooding be an issue here from the rain last night and tonight? If not I'll be there.
