Absolutely dumbfounded how Kung was allowed to keep going. He ended up breaking a few fingers, his cheekbone and has a concussion. 100% the wrong look for the sport/example for fans

Injuries aside, the fact that his helmet was cracked basically in half should have been enough to pull him simply for not having proper safety equipment.

@Matt Budofsky There's supposed to be a concussion protocol followed in UCI events after a head injury.  

I'm guessing that said protocol is only required of on-site medics, and that whomever was in the follow car did not have either that obligation or that training.  Still, I'm surprised they didn't pull him off the bike, as there was no way he was going to win or medal, so the benefit of him going on seems minor compared to the risks.

I was thinking that all riders should have a force gauge built into their helmet that turn red when a certain force is exceeded (there are stick in ones out there now for use in the short term and theoretically helmet manufacturers could eventually start just building it right into the helmet) and if after a crash it’s red that riders day is done and they’re put in a proper protocol. Its draconian for sure but I think it would limit things like this from happening in the future

Two friends drove up to Montreal for the pro race this past Sunday.  They loved it.  One of them said that Montreal is one of htose cities, like New York, you don't want to leave.

I went to the Worlds in Richmond.  By train, which we can also do to Montreal.  Wonder if they have a public ride on the course, as they did in Richmond.

Guess we've got to start planning now.

I went to the races in QC and Montreal and can confirm theyre amazing races for spectators. My wife and I found a shady spot on the top of the steepest climb in QC to plop lawn chairs on and saw the riders come by 12+ times before walking over to the finish and watched the sprint finish. It was epic. Montreal equally so. Circuit racing has sooo many benefits for fans, organizers, and the environment. It should be the standard.

Hell yes!  Montreal is one of my favorite North American cities!

I liked Montreal too, except for how those Quebecers totally refuse to understand my french.

As of yet, the train to Montreal doesn’t allow bikes. Let’s hope they change that somewhere in the next two years.

I think it was Tyler Phiney a while back talking about time trialing, something on how people focus on power but all that actually matters is speed. 

Pretty good stress management skills from Remco (also 6 seconds to Ganna, what kinda updates is Remco getting during the ride?)

Can we call Amber Neben a fellow basecamper? In any case, coached by Tim Cusik, she is also retiring after her TT ride this past weekend. 

I love that Grace Brown plans to do one more race, so she can do a TT in rainbow.
