Awesome James' victory in cat 5! Great team work, Riley, Scott all of us controlling the race, staying up front in the last lap, closing holes watching for danger. Me and James were well positioned in the last sprint on the hill, then James continued and went away. Sprint with 5-6 guys, then me Riley and Scott at 5 seconds.

Yacks slept in and went to the chiropractor...I'm about 3 weeks from race shape...

Eloy dropped out to officiate the KOM, so we had Jeff, Harry & myself lining up for the geezer race. It started out pretty surgy, with small groups getting off the front, frenetic chases and then a lull, and the race had more or less the same pattern every lap that way. Jeff did a good job of staying near the front, while I was keeping the middle of the pack warm. 

Just before the final lap there was a bit of rubbing and 3 riders went down, apparently no broken bones just busted carbon and missing skin. This all happened in front of me and I threaded the needle through the bodies and followed wheels to get back into the pack. happy to have survived the bit of shenanigans. Pulled the chute at the top of the hill and rolled in wheel to wheel with Eddy B, both happy we stayed upright and finished the race. 

Once again thank you Eloy for taking one for the team. 

Winning bike races is fun.
Myself, Riley, Scott and Giacomo rolled up for the 5s race so we were definitely the best represented team there. I noticed a Cat 3 track racer from Pink Rhino that I've chatted to before at the Velodrome and thought he'd be a good wheel to follow that would dominate any sprint that might happen. Race panned out nicely. Always a Kissena top 5 I would say and there was one lap that must have made Eloy very proud where all 4 of were dictating the pace up the hill by the KOM point. All breakaways were reeled in pretty quickly. There was one crash, someone rode into my back wheel which felt like I was puncturing but it was OK. Last lap came and Riley was leading Giacomo and myself, Riley put in a good pull to push the pace which left Giacomo to lead me up the climb when BAM, the track guy went proabably 1/4 up the climb. I put pedal to the metal and chased him hard catching him at about the KOM mark where he was blowing out of every hole from the effort. I felt alright though so just kept pushing and seeing a good gap behind kept going until I knew I wasn't going to be passed. I had it by a good few lengths despite sitting up early of the line. It felt awesome and I'm super proud of the team for making it happen. That was a lot of fun. It was my last prospect park race and I'm seriously going to miss riding in Kissena colours with the Cat 5 class of 2016.  

Nice to see a great team effort come together for the W. Great job gents.

I never made it to the start line as I have never quite recovered from being sick two weekends ago. Still on antibiotics and a cough that won't go away led me to go back to bed this morning. Looking forward to riding with the geezer crew next time. 

I think this was the first race that didn't "control me," for whatever sense that makes.  I had no problem being in the front, rolling to the back and then finding my way back up to the front again.  Also, I had a great time finding good positioning and felt I was where I needed to be at the right times.  Awesome to have teammates and work with each other, it makes a difference for sure.  

It was spooky for me to hear the wreck at the beginning of the 3rd lap and I thought James got tangled up in it.  I hollered back, and he confirmed his presence.  That was a relief.

The last lap developed on the lake side.  Riley and Giacomo were up front, and James and I pushed slowly forward on the inside until were behind them.  After the zoo it started picking up and then at 1/4th up the hill, it really picked up as James noted.  I did my best to hold James' wheel and cresting the hill I was probably top 5 or 6 ... then lack of fitness kicked in and I started gassing out. Dropped out of top 10, but felt plenty great for the day.

Totally stoked for James' win today!  It's been a blast riding with you.  Look forward to Floyd this week.

Fantastic work guys - sounds like things are really starting to "click" with you as a squad. This is the time of year when the fitness starts to really arrive and now that you've done this racing thing a few times you can start trying to control the race instead of vice versa.

Amazing result James! Great instincts to follow someone you know is strong; and great legs to make it stick!

@eloy, @MaxThorn and I were there super early to volunteer, but alas, no dice on the race.  Thanks for the pic!  It was too dark for us at that time.  Also feel bad for the guy who drove up from DC this morning to race, only to be sent home.

Max and I headed over to Manhattan and got reaquianted with Central Park as we'll be racing there tomorrow.

Wow. I guess we need club chainsaws in addition to the pump...
