Here's the schedule for Nationals, they'll be in Hartford CT, so really close to NYC:

Registration will open Monday @ 11AM

I'm up for driving up on Sunday to watch the U23 and Elite Men and Women races. I can definitely take 3 passengers with me, as long as we're not transporting bikes or large signs.
I will probably race Friday -- might simply drive out that day, and stay in CT for the weekend.
If my back is healing I may race the single speed race Saturday afternoon and then stay over that night. If not, I'll definitely head up Sunday to spectate.
I'll probably race Friday as well.  Though doubtful I'll stay for the weekend.

Though I might go up Thursday night, just to have a more relaxed morning.

David Hildebrand, Hartford local and usual 45+ top 5~10, has put together a preview.

two things come to mind: we should consider renting team space for the tent, as parking is kinda abysmal and off site. Bring mud threads.

There are three of us.  What's the cost per space?
Can we get the Kissena tent?
I think but I am not sure, @PatrickG has the tent(?)

We probably only need a 10'x10' space for the tent, they charge $150 for the space.

Does the tent have walls? They rent tent wall for $12, which could help us keep wind out.

I would be happy to share the cost.

Having a tent will no doubt make it easier. But needs to be balanced against the task of installing, getting things to it, and breaking it down -- does it actually make it easier on us?

If you guys think is worth it, then let's do it.

https://www.regonline.com/builder/site/Default.aspx?EventID=1786449

For teams:
Each 10' x 10' Site $150
20' x 20' Site $450
Additional 10' x 10' spaces beyond 20' x 50' Site is $125

Rentals Available for All Registration Types
Each 10' x 10' tent is $183
Each 8' table is $9
Each chair is $1.05
40' of solid side walls for tents is $12

Thanks for raising parking issue. It will be a big issue if it is cold and windy and we are far from our gear/cars.

I have the Kissena tent. It does not have walls. I'd go in on renting tent space and walls. I have a folding table and chairs if we don't want to put our gear on ground.

Harry is also racing that day. Haven't checked reg to see if any other teammates are signed up
Ok cool, I'll wait for a moment for JP to confirm, but I'll go ahead and rent the space and wall tomorrow. You guys can pay me later.

and yes on the table and chairs!

I'm in.  Might be able to find another person or two if we need to drop costs further.
Spoke to Jim F and Harry at LICX this weekend (they were 1st and 3rd in 50+ races!) and they said they are both willing to chip in as they are racing nats Friday as well. I am hoping having a tent will allow us to bring car(s) in to drop stuff off even if we can't park there. No way we want to lug table, chairs, and tent across route 91.
Just read the registration site for tents, etc. while the Kissena tent is a standard tent, we probably want to confirm that their "solid sides" will fit our tent. I will check what I have and email them
awesome.
Let me know, I have not bought the space yet, but probably wanna do soon, as I assume it might sell out.
I emailed them. I'll let you know what I find out. We should probably secure spot ASAP.
Good luck to all you racing.

I am definitely going up on Sunday to spectate the full day of races. Would love to carpool with folks. Happy to drive or be a passenger and contribute to gas/tolls/beer.

I'd be psyched to get there at 9:00am for the Juniors - cause they're the future, man.

2. anyone interested in working Mstr 55+ pit, 11:35a Friday? ice&snow in forecast. i have room @motel overnight Thursday, return Friday afternoon.

so basically, no one will ride the hill

I am guessing that everyone that is interested has seen it by now (just look for #cxnats in your fave social media) -- the descent from that hill became a total mockery on all following races:

It will be removed for Wednesday's races.

Hartford-CX Nationals

Eloy,
Thanks for Nats. reCon...frightening 'MudFest;' hope racers can find oppertunity to compete vs. simply cope! National Race should be test of skills strength endurance and preparation vs luck&survival?!
Thanks again for video clips &insights gor "preperation" goodLuck ALL!!!

ps. see you in Hartford thurs&friday
I went over to the race predictor to see how I'm supposed to do at nationals, based on my previous results.

Turns out I'm second behind multi-time national champion Mark McCormack.
He's predicted to finish 101st, me 102nd.
that means you are likely to be staged next to him. Something tells me, McCormack will finish higher than 101th.

JP, no matter what happens: STICK TO THAT WHEEL LIKE GLUE!!!
