Also, FWIW, I only swear at punks who advance their position through the joggers lane, because I know sometimes you get pushed into the lane through no fault of their own.

This is the way I treat it as an observer and participant.  Splitting the white lines is ok.  On the left of both lines is not. I've never heard anyone complain about others splitting the white lines, nor have I heard of a DQ as a result.

I think you're in the right, but thought it was a little close when I first saw it, and thought it was funny in this context.  There were were others in that video that are definitely into the danger zone.  (I remembered the move because it was right after the gun)

Hey is anyone planning to do this race? I'm reg'd but looks like I'm the only Kissena in the 3's right now. Fields are looking thin but should fill up fast.

Off topic, but does anyone have a line to Foundation? Julie and I were riding this morning and were politely stopping for pedestrians who had the right of way. Three TTing Foundation riders blew through the crossing and one yelled "you're going to cause an accident". I thought that was pretty lame considering the CRCA pledge for safe riding... and then to also put it on us was ripe. Although I kind of see their point, not yielding to peds is going to lead to more officiousness.

Foundation is actually a pretty big club. I don't know their numbers exactly, but I frequently see dudes in their jerseys who are clearly not any of the big guns. It doesn't surprise me that there are at least a few bad apples. They do have a pretty active FB page and that might be a good place to post a comment if you didn't get the desired reaction in your convo this a.m.

I'm still on the fence about this race. To be honest, if it wasn't going to be over $50 to register for a race that only pays 8 deep, I'd probably have signed up by now. And yes, I do realize that if I had signed up 2 months ago, the race entry fee would have been a reasonable $30. And that actually irritates me even more. I despise the CRCA's introduction of the sliding scale that takes race entry fees from reasonable if you register two years in advance to ridiculous.

I do realize that many of you believe that it's our duty to register early to help promoters, and this is a bigger conversation probably for another/its own thread, but I will say that not too long ago, before bikereg.com, we used to all (save a few dudes who mailed them in) register day-of for races and there were races, lots of them, with good sized fields.

But what it boils down for me, as I have to make a decision in a few hours, is that do I think it's worth spending $50+ to roll around in CP for what will certainly be a 25-35th place finish? I don't know why others are not racing this year (KCC has always had trouble getting Brooklyn based riders out to CP due to the extra hour they have to get up, so low KCC reg doesn't surprise me one bit; but Mengoni usually sells out weeks in advance), but that's one reason I haven't registered.

If I had a car (maybe I'll take a train?), heading to Sterling for a city streets crit, whose entry fee is $35, and the prize list is 20 deep, paying out $2040 is certainly the more interesting/better choice for me. Of course there's this picnic thing my wife wants me to go to with some of her friends...

And yes, I do realize that ultimately, despite $40 to $50+ entry fees for Park Racing this year, they are still more affordable than any out of town race, I'm also mostly done/bored with park racing even CP.

I've had a head cold and haven't ridden all week. I wish I hadn't wasted $$ registering for this race since they don't refund. Not sure either way if I'm going as of right now.

Kinda bummed about this race, felt good and was 10th wheel at worst with maybe 1.5k to go, we were hugging the left side and the guys in the front sat up and a bunch of CRCA guys passed us on the right, tried my best to jockey for position from there in, but got boxed out.  The wheel I was behind coming into that last left turn made a real sketchy move causing me to swerve around him a bit to avoid him and that gave me no chance coming into the sprint. Niall was strong, solo'd off the front with one to go for about 2k.  Hard to compete with 8-10 man CRCA teams who had 3-4 guys working together going into the last 500m.  Need to figure out the Sagan freestyle sprint I guess ...ya right.

If you don't have a team, one approach that worked for me is find the wheel of someone like a Perker or Suarez and stay there. It's high odds those guys will podium (or get you DQ'd).  www.roadresults.com > race predictor

That was my plan, the MBC team had a lead out guy and a sprinter (won a Brinkerhoff and an L&C) making a move to the front that I followed and that's who sat up.  Chose the wrong wheel(s) I suppose.  Oh well...it is bike racing after all and shit happens

Tough call. That guy Suarez is doing some huge 'bagging btw.
He has few results because he keeps winning but gets DQ'd for joggers lane idiocy (twice so far!?).

Registration is still low.

There have been few opportunities to race in Central Park the past two years.  Great course, everyone is in great shape.  Time to have fun and throw down.

Registered at the last minute. I can't resist a chance to race at Central Park. It will be my first time. Any other 5s?

Good times today with Giacomo and Max (other than silly upper west and east siders crossing the course with their squirrel sized dogs in front of the pack ... and the multitude of squirrels dodging the course themselves, i expected at least one of them to take a ride in our wheels).  

Final lap, coordinated with Max and Giacomo to lead them up Cat Hill and blow myself up so they could be in a good position for the sprint finish ... but in hindsight, starting near the bottom of Cat Hill was probably too early!! As I pulled to the side, Max and Giacomo were holding together in the front as the course flattened and turned into the straight away.  the pack left me and I lolligaged to the finish line.

Oh, and I saw Phil!!  Good to see you back man, and thanks for coming out in full kit.  The battle scar is looking mean.

I think today the record for the soonest crash has been beaten. Cat 5, 2 guys in front of me touched each other and went down pretty badly, luckly I could avoid them going around. All this after maybe 15 seconds from the start. 
The race went on pretty smoothly from that, except for some joggers and dogs with no leash dangerously hanging out on the edge of the lines. Me and the other Kissenas were pretty conservative for the first laps, only a couple of efforts to repack on the 3 sisters. We were well positioned on Cat's hill, Scott started pulling hard then I tried to stretch on the last turn before the straight finish line but I saw Max was caught up behind. Sprinting then I lost some position but still pretty happy. 12th place for me, Max and Scott I think a couple of positions after. 

Next stop, Lucarelli & Castaldi!
