Registration for D2R2 is open. I heard good things but missed out this year due to my surgery. Would like to go in 2023 with some Kissenas. Who's interested? I don't feel the need to do the 180k. I'm fine with either the 160 or 100. The 100 will likely get closed out relatively quickly.

BTW, the cost is $150. Sorta steep, but part of that does go to a land conservation

Last summer bailed out on the 180k, just seemed so long, that it would have put me in a hole. Seems like there are 3 100k routes, I could be convinced to do any of them. Should we do the original?

I'm interested in the 160k--has about 9k feet of elevation.  Might as well make a full day of it given the travel time

It starts from Thompson CT, at the same place the last KMC Cross was held. There's some great converted train trails that start from there.

I don't currently have a gravel bike. I have a Trek Emonda that I think I can squeeze 30s or 32s on. Think that'd be enough or should I look into tracking down a bike that handle wider tires than that? The description makes me think I can get away with it on my road bike.

I have seen some people ride Farmer's Daughter on a road bike. If you can fit 32 or 33s do that.  While it is not a full on race, you will be at a disadvantage when everyone else around you is on 40mm tires.

Another consideration is gearing. 1 to 1 or as close as you possible can -- that is a 36 in the front, 36 in the back (or 34/34) most riders will likely have a 40 front with a 40 or 42 in the back. I've ridden it 38 front 36 back, but might get a 40 cassette for this year.

Also loving that we have such a great group this year!

No bike suits the entire route , Hardtails are best suited to some areas ,road bikes other sections , one year the guy parked next to us road a vintage steel bike with super skinny slicks

I'd likely be able to borrow a hardtail MTB Trek Marlin, maybe ill use that

If I had a choice I would ride a road bike w 32 or bigger tires, & one to one gears… but trust your instic… there will be plenty on mtb, likely better to be overbiked than underbiked for your first gravel event… not to mention the lower mtb gears

Last time I did FD there were guys on fatbikes. They seemed to be having just as much fun as I was.

Typically we have just driven on the same day...

I think there's 9 of us signed up this year, so you could potentially convince some of us to share an airbnb for the weekend, if anything is still available... 

Not sure my plans yet. Was thinking of going up with my wife the day before for some getaway time. Will know this week. If not I’m game to share a car and leave early in am. 

I guess leaving for it at ~6-6:15am isn't too bad
