@Jules thank ya sir! Full summary of the day is below:
It was definitely the dumbest idea I had in a long time. I started at 5am and on my first rep thought to myself that this was going to be a long day and I genuinely didn’t know if I’d be able to finish it.
I wanted to knock out a big chunk before my first rest and then to break the rest of it into chunks of 3 or 4 laps at time. I got through the first 5 laps and felt really good, lap 6 I felt a bit rough around the edges and then lap 7 I hurts pretty badly. In hindsight going for that big of a chunk out of the gate may have been a bad call physically but mentally was a huge boost. After lap 7 I got off the bike, changed my bibs, stretched and ate and felt pretty good.
The next two sets of laps were uneventful. I rewatched a bunch of Futurama, ate a bunch of bars and then @eloy joined me for the last lap of this set.
After this break I changed again, got going and @PatrickGrehan joined. The first lap was good, and then the about 1/3 into the second lap, I hit some sort of wall (not really a bonk) and felt all sorts of awful. I really struggled to put any sort of power out, but finished up the lap, hopped off, changed again, got a good stretch and took a bit longer of a break.
For the last set, Eloy joined back up for another 2 laps. I was feeling good, making good time and on the last lap up, the day finally caught up with me. I was just absolutely exhausted and it ended up being the hardest, slowest lap up to the top.
Overall, I burned 8,000 calories and ate 5 cliff cube bars, a Skratch bar, 3 gels, 6 homemade oat bars, 2 bananas, a smoothie, 4 big bowls of rices, an English muffin, an orange and somewhere in the ballpark of 6 nuun tabs. It was the most fun I never want to have again!
