Anyone off work on Thursday? I have a "fast 50mi" in my training plan, am hoping to do a fast pace early morning ride in Prospect for unbroken roads. it's about 5mi there and back, so between 40-45 miles in the park. Lmk if anyone is interested... thinking like a 6a GAP meetup.

Editing to say I'd also be intrigued to do it in Central Park
I might be in for some of it.  What kind of pace are you looking for?
I'd be down if it was CP, the only thing is it would have to be after 7:30am, then the issue is the number of tourists n joggers & red lights. CP you can only really go hard if it's super early or late.

I’m in a sort of taper week until Saturday — but I will join for some of this if in Prospect Park
Pace above 17-18 mph, so not crazy but not chill. Plan says “tempo/tempo+”. Kevin, since you have more experience in Central Park, do you think that’d be nuts to do starting at 7:30? Would be around 7 laps for me with the distance to/from the park.

If you think it’s too tough/not safe at that hour, I might opt for prospect
20 mins a lap at that pace, might actually be a little late... I'm also not 100%  i.e. may have to back out last minute so if you wanted to ride with other peeps PP may be better
What time were you thinking?  I gotta be at the office by 9, so not sure how much I'll be able to catch of a 7-730 start.

Edit - looks like I'll be working from home on Thursday so I'll be there for the whole thing.
Greg you down to meet at 6 or 6:30?

Ok fair point(s)! We’ll catch you for the next one
So sounds like this is in prospect park, 7am. Please confirm Blake, I will likely join for a portion

Apologies for tge confusion.  I can make the 7am start.
7am PP at GAP, roll out by 7:05
That was great fun, nice to see you guys.  I got to ride with teammates, it was a solid crew, the park wasn't crowded and though there was some speed on the downhill, we never rode dangerously fast and we had plenty of space to pass.  No one yelled at us and several jumped on for a draft, now and again.
At the beginning of one of the downhills, however, there was that odious and sibilant hard hiss we know all too well and from muscle memory, I looked down at my wheels, and then up, forward to Eloy's rear wheel which I saw losing integrity, flattening out towards the road the way I slink down into my chair on a Saturday night with a belly full of chicken with broccoli and a sweating can of Tecate on the coffee table.
He had to pull over with assurances, and so the three of use continued the lap, eventually passing him sitting in the grass working on the tire, and then it was Blake and me for a couple of laps where I rode beside him along the flats, too winded to speak, and then a nice, slow ride uphill where we could talk, and then me chasing after as he cranked it along the West side and down the hill once again.
And then we were 4, Eloy with a new tube, Greg with us again and we rode together for a few more laps before the weight of time and work slowed my enthusiasm and I had to turn out of the park, leaving my friends, for the slow roll home.
30 miles for me this morning, burned off last night's burger, a bagel with honey after a shower, a second cup of coffee, and then in my morning meeting they ask, how's your morning going so far, and I shrug, say fine, because who would believe it.
Looking forward to reading other perspectives.
We might need to change the hotness button to a love button if Bruce continues to write reports like this.

It was really fun this morning, special kudos to Blake for posting and letting us tag along on his training ride.

Great fun this morning with even better company. The jokes kept it light-hearted even when my legs started to yell at me, and the encouragement from all along for the ride kept my cadence high.

Eloy did his best commentator talk track with 2 laps to go around the park, was very funny.

Successfully did my fastest 50 miles (besting my previous PR by 7 mins) and hit a 90min all time power record. Salute and kudos to all for the support.
Worth note: Greg riding without a cycle computer. I am out here complaining my power meter is dead, and Greg is out there without even time of day, full riding on vibes. Amazing. Reminder that the ride is what matters.

Let's go ride bikes.
