First race of the year for most, not surprising you don't feel like you have break-making legs yet. Things looked very dry I'm surprised about the cornering.
when guys are swerving to avoid the manhole covers on dry right-angle turns, there are problems.

Guess my legs weren't good enough yet.

56:56 for 24.4mi
235w ap
280w np
That manhole at the bottom of the hill before the lefthander always sucks.
It's true those numbers aren't summertime, but if there wasn't a split and you weren't fighting for position, it's hard to say that was you not having gas and not just a tame race.
titanium...I like this guy
BTW, I was 35th in the race, 19th in NY State.

My first road race of 2019!!!

Registration opens Friday, Feb 1, 2019 at 12:01 AM ET.

Have a few questions:
Who’s in?
I am a cat 5, should I register for 5 or 4/5?

register for both. win both.
@Joshua Wilson if it’s not colder than cold, than I’ll join you if you do cat 5.
Anyone actually have experience racing twice in a day? I've heard some folks have done it for shorter crits/ training. Is this why they have multiple cat 4 fields?

Definitely do it Robert, some of the races are only 45 minutes. If you can get two hours of racing it'll really lift your fitness and hone skills. If you're a bit gassed from the first effort, you can focus on eating everyone's lunch in the second.

Multi Cat 4 fields are usually because of demand.

I've done it on a number of occasions.  Mostly, it's been races back to back--though I took up a Supercross challenge a few years ago and did something like four cx races in a single day.  (note to self: do not repeat)

If you don't have teammates in the race, my feeling is to race the first one all out, and then the second on whatever you have left.

If you do have teammates in the races, just treat both as normal races, be a good teammate, take your turn attacking, blocking, leading out, etc.

In both cases, you will be tired for the second race, but you should be much more comfortable on the course and there's a good chance you can race the second one smarter with the knowledge and experience you gained from the first.

If the races are back-to-back, you can't really fuel up in between, so in this case, have some kind of electrolyte drink with a moderate amount of calories in the bottle(s) that you're sipping during the first race.

However, if there are races in between, scarf down a recovery drink after the first, put on at least fresh socks, baselayer, and get into warm clothing after you finish the first.  Keep the legs open by spinning easy.  Then, have fresh gloves and possibly head gear before starting the second.
Cool, thanks for the advice guys. It looks like it’s possible to race 2 with ~an hour in between.
Rob you thinking of the 4/5 race and the 4 - or 3/4 (and the 4)?
Ricky, John O and I were talking about racing the 4 (10:20) and the 3/4 (12:35)! I wouldn't mind racing with the 5s but I'd rather sleep in if I can. I think Josh and Nate are racing the 5s so there will be some Kissena guys in there too if you want a bigger gap between races.

I'm going to register in a minute.
I'm keen to sleep in as well - going to sign up now
I’m reg’d for the 4 and the 3/4

LETS GO
Registered for CAT4 @ 10:20 & CAT3/4 @ 12:35!

Dino BBQ to follow...
Keen for post race BBQ. Hits all my keto macros....
@Joshua Wilson  @RobertPeras let me know if you sign up for the Cat 5 or the 4/5. I'm down for either.

Just registered for Cat 5. Not sure if i'll tack on the 4/5 as well.
@Kyle Panton I'm signed up too
we are rolling deep for this race! Might have to reserve a table (+ bikes) at dino BBQ if this keeps up.

Peoples,
If you're going to race together, it helps to ride together.  So let's plan some group rides wehre everyone is out riding in the same place at the same time.

I also suggest scheduling this a few weeks before the race, so you have a common language and some ideas of what you might be doing.

see you soon.
Definitely down for a skills/tactics session. I can't do Fridays but a weekend session would be great!
I’m down for a weekend session (can’t do Presidents’ Day weekend unfortunately- I’m proposing to my girlfriend, but free otherwise)
Oh dang I’m actually not going to be in town that weekend either haha. But some other time before the race for sure!
Wow, it looks like everyone is racing at Grants Tomb... OK, you twisted my arm, I’ll register today 🤓.
I’ve got work at 10 so Cat 5 is it for me
