I thought something was fishy about her...

They can set up their tent at Floyd Bennet Field whenever they want...
Has anybody been able to decipher the new backdated TUE rules for amateurs?

Lots of kerfuffle on Facebook about it - sounds like a huge loophole to allow anti-aging (HGH, Testosterone) use in lower categories.

Zero testing loophole notwithstanding!
Jules, are you holding?

Don't worry, Dieter Drake is still opposed to any testing.

I am

USAC sent an email that the site got hacked.  As a consequence, USAC has disabled passwords, including the one for your app you use to show your license at races (if you don't have a printed license).

Be sure to update your password and update your app before you race.
When I renew my license, I have a printed license sent to me, in case I don't have my phone or the battery's dead.  Or the USAC site gets hacked.

Maybe the hackers can give us all back the races that have mysteriously disappeared over the years.
I blame it on AVD bringing down the site by trying to upload years of race results at one time.
Lots of changes coming your way:
One day licenses for experienced riders. Women’s Category 5 field for cyclocross, road and track. Gran fondos may be counted toward upgrading from Category 5 to category 4... & much more.

Anybody renewed their license recently on the USAC site? Membership part of the site is redone/launched. Kissena not popping up when trying to enter my Club. Site is forcing me to select "No Affiliation". Anyone run into this yet?

I somehow was able to sign up as affiliated with Kissena on all those choices.
I was able to pull up kissena last week, in fact two autofill suggestions came up, our club and the (defunct?) Kissena sports guys.
when the hell did this happen????

@PatrickG + rest of the board, we need to renew the Club with USAC.

(club expired 2016)

We also want to update the Club Contacts

Weird guess they didn't crack down until recently.

Observed Trials!  I haven't done one of those in at least 25 years.

Thanks for heads up
Did this get sorted out ?
Working on it. Taking surprisingly long to sort out but should be done soon. I will update when doen
Club dues to USAC are paid up. Thanks for your patience.

Don't forget to select Kissena when renewing your license!
Still no Kissena drop down

Thanks for heads up.

Everything checks out on our end re: club status. This may be a glitch on their end (maybe with their beta site).

I emailed USAC to fix problem.

Can you try again this afternoon?

I got the following from USAC today. In summary they update the club list BY HAND every few days!!seems unbelievable today, but was the norm before the internet changed the world.

So, yeah, the club should show up in the beta system Friday. Glad we are not all racing this week?

An updated club list is sent to the new system three times a week- on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. It may take up to a day after that for the new club list to appear in the system, as it's currently a manual process. We are working to automate this system so it's instantaneous, but we're not quite there yet. Sorry for the delay on this. If it's urgent, you can always renew as unaffiliated and let me know what team you'd like to add to your license.

Holy Geebus that org is broken.
I'm looking at race times and dates through bikereg and am seeing Women Category 4/5 showing up.  Is Women Cat 5 a new Category, or is this an oversight by the race directors?
One race and I'd think it was a typo, but the Cat is showing up multiple times.

Definitely not listed in previous races

Yep, that's reportedly a new category. (Source)
Thanks, Max.

Where is the logic in that?
Just when I thought cycling was going to deliberately try to include more people, as they seemed to be doing with Gran Fondo-ers, they updated the rules to help divide an already sparse group.

I believe they did this with CX because of the growing popularity of the sport, allowing race directors to separate 4 and 5 if need be due to sold out races, but with such small Cat 4 women attendance as it is, dividing them further, and then setting up races to combine 4 and 5, seems rather pointless.  And worse, may actively discourage some.
The logic was to simply align the Women and Men categories.

Your intuition is correct, it is not yet clear how it benefits Women fields. Often, races offer two women's fields, so right now, this is translating into a 4/5 and a Pro 1/2/3 effectively eliminating the typical 3/4 Field, and forcing current cat 3 women to race pro.

We'll have to wait a bit and see how it develops.
USAC is conducting a survey on the proposed rules changes for 2018. If you want your opinion to affect the rules that govern your racing, this is your chance:
