Prospect Park Weekday Morning Training

We had 5 this morning; Dan, Jeff W, Jeff C, Murray, and myself. 3 TT efforts of about 9:30/9:45 each. First one felt really brutal on the legs after yesterday's hard ride. Warmed up for the other two and felt decent.

Sorry we missed you Rich.

See you all tomorrow morning for an easier group ride.
I'll be out tomorrow morning for some recovery pace laps. GAP 6am. Not racing this weekend so may or may not do some openers.
So Joe, we're all on pins and needles here. What's the deal?
Jeff, I went to pick up my bike today, and they said that they had fixed the problem. They think it was something with the freewheel but I'm not convinced since the bike still sounds like shit. I will give it a test ride tomorrow, but I'm not real sold that anything is fixed. Sorry for the delay. To be continued.
@ Joe: That sucks, did the bike shop test ride your bike post-repair? If it's the axel you should be able to take the wheel out and feel if spin/pull it to feel any lateral movement or stiction.

Shimano certified mechanic in Brooklyn anyone?
Ok
Repeat
Tuesday anaerobic
2,1,30s efforts
Wed tt's
Thursday easy group
Welp. Had really bad stomach for this morning's workout due to eating some medium-rare bratwurst yesterday, but showed up anyway and tried to make a go of it. By the fourth 2:00 effort, I could only hold my threshold power, so I just finished the rest of the 2:00 efforts and bagged the rest of the workout. My legs were completely blocked, my stomach felt distended and wasn't absorbing water, and I was in some serious intestinal discomfort.

Went home, took care of business, and got an extra hour of sleep. Considering finishing the workout in the park tonight at 6:30; we'll see how I feel.
@Jeff

Sorry to hear that. You were killing it out of the gate. I thought you were just miles ahead and we'd see you streaking through our ranks, lapping us as we were all trying to grind out our last 1 minute effort.

Ouch, it was not a fun day. Those two minute efforts don't get easier, and the one minutes felt longer. looking forward to TT efforts tomorrow, and by forward I mean I dread them with all my heart.
thanks for the workout Dan, and everyone. It was nice to be back (of course, I might feel differently if I'd been out with you guys yesterday morning... actually, I'm certain I'd feel differently). I did manage to tear-up something in my left leg on that last TT though.... not serious, just a bit of acute inflammation methinks.
Looking strong Norm! Did anyone log times on those?
Sorry to hear about your leg, Norm. John, I forgot to time them... I must've been too busy trying (uselessly) to catch up to you & Norm & Dan! Thanks for the ride, everybody.
I only got the time on the first TT: 8:04.
Nice work
I will have to check the data files tonight, but I think we did #2 and #3 faster. I don't know for certain, but I did get the feeling like the last one I was putting out more watts and sustaining a higher speed. I definitely stayed with Norm and John longer.
Yeah you guys were killin it! Just goes to show how much work I have to do. Good thing I didn't sign up for the TT on Saturday. Course, this is my first week of any intensity, I know fitness will come...
Eric,

You'll be back to killing it on TT efforts shortly. You've got a ways to go, but you've got great base fitness and a big engine.
Nice ride this morning. Some good paceline practice.

I'll be out tomorrow for an hour at recovery pace with some openers. 6am GAP if anyone wants to join.
Spinning in PP this afternoon or evening. I'm open to times.

Plan for this week (for all you teachers, beach bums, and under-employed people like myself):

Tues- Hammerfest over GWB. Probably similar to Saturday with a few hills, around 80 miles from Brooklyn. Gonna try and go harder though.
Wed- Maybe straight cruise to Nyack and back, a bit slower, closer to 60-70 miles.
Thurs - Longer medium high tempo (whatever that means) ride up Little Tor maybe.
Fri- get a haircut and drink beer

I am going to the City Reliquary for more surprise prizes today.
Jeff that sounds like fun. I wish I could join you for some of this, but since Mr Murdoch is paying me to sit here and attend meetings, I guess I better do it. I am sorry I won't be able to win a KOM prize of a baggie full of gummy worms or a ring pop.

So for those of you who don't fit into the underemployed we'll be doing the usual PP morning workouts, Starting at 6AM Tuesday.
I forgot, Thursday is FBF for an attempt to eat points for Mike. Have to skip Lil' Tor. Can't say I'll miss it.
Jeff I'm in for Wed. do you think 4pm would work?
Can we do hill-repeats tomorrow (June 14th)?
Is this a rest week?
It isn't for me, but don't know if it is for others. (I haven't been able to attend many of the morning sessions). I do know that Jim is doing Housatonic on Sunday --I was supposed to be racing it too, but I screwed-up and didn't register.

Anyhow, I guess the question goes to Dan or one of the regular morning sessioneers.
I'll be there tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn't rain.
Hill repeats would help... I'm doing Housatonic Sunday.
Norm, sorry to hear that...it sucks
Was looking forward to seeing you Sunday.
See you tomorrow.
Jorge was the whole post a Haiku?!?
hills on sunday are not trainable with repeats in the park. Longer efforts are useful.
Last minute alpine repeats? I did five today. How did Horner lose 10 lbs in a month when he was already skinny? I'm up for more alpine action this week if anyone is available.
His wife made him lose 10 lbs.
So, good to see people out there this morning.
Those doing Housatonic were taken aside and did 5 min intervals with low tempo recovery pace for 5 min in between. Those with the punishing Thursday-Saturday-Housatonic race schedule took it easy. The group continued on a steady pace in this rest week.

I saw:
Reiners.
Jorge
Eric Robertson
Norm
Rich
Mehlenbeck was out there.

More group riding tomorrow with some hard one minute pulls in the double paceline.
