It'll look something like this, as he tears off into the distance at Floyd...

@Thierry - perhaps tomorrow when we're snowed in again.  :((((((
@johnmalcomson a 140 stem would look sick!!!
Mr. Malcomson, when choosing a stem, please consider using the Obree Scale rather than mm.  I believe Blyer recommends 50 Units Obree.  For calibration, see below:

100 Units Obree: planking.

image

0 Units Obree: elbow and thigh collide, redefining active recovery.  massage as you pedal.

If you can touch your own nipples while your hands rest on your handlebars, you have reached negative Units Obree.

@Wes: did this shit fall off the back of a truck or what?
Anyone have a compact crank I can borrow for a week? Thought I had one lined up, but no cigar. Need one for the Cali camp leaving Weds morning. For regular external English BB, no BB30. Promise to return it before March 1st.

Were I a bit taller I would not be posting this (I'd have snatched up the Look that Wes posted) but I'm not so here goes.

I'm looking to do some track racing this year and I've been shopping around for a bike. RB carries the Giant Omnium which seems like a really nice bike but at a price point slightly above what I've convinced myself I should spend ($1000 or less - do I need to spend more????). So I'm looking for other options. Used would be great but haven't really found anything yet that's jumped out at me.

Anyone have a line or suggestions on a raceabel track bike, either used or a good shop deal? My road and cross bike top tubes are both 54.5 so I think that puts me primarily in the 54 size range (though the Giant at RB git great and it was called a M52.5).
I'll keep my eyes open. If you see an older fuji track pro those are great. Both JP and I race on them. Dolan Pre-Cursa is also a nice option. You can find the frame and fork for between 350 and 400 on ebay.
http://bit.ly/LwOskg it's in englewood NJ. I need to find it but there is a seller in japan that ha a bunch of NJS stuff dirt cheap. You could grab your crankset, chain ring/cog and maybe even a nice set of tubular wheels for about 500$
I have a nice specialized frame that might fit you. Cheap. I think it's a
52.5 but I'll check.

Best,

-Eric

Jim,
If you're trying to keep costs down, first scour your parts bin.  Saddle, stem, bars, seat post, front wheel (with a thru-bolt to replace the qr), all switch over no problem.

Perhaps Recycle-A-Bicycle has some cheap from the hipsters who realized that riding a fixie is hard work.

BTW, while it probably isn't worth the effort, you could probably pick up the Dolan in Englewood.
Actually, now that JP mentions it - I have a ton of parts in my bin that I
could donate to the track bike...

Best,

-Eric

Thanks guys.

Eric, let me know about the Specialized. I'd be happy to help you dig and clear out some of that stuff.... jimdisc@gmail.com if you want to send me an email.

Andy/JP, I had seen the Dolan and considered it but wasn't sure about what I would need to build it up and how much it would end up costing. I was afraid I would end up spending so much on a frame and bunch of used parts that it would have been cheaper to buy something complete. But it looks like a rallying call to the club may allay that fear. Andy, if you find the guy who has the cheap parts let me know. I also know how to use ebay.

I'm certain that I will have specific questions on what I would need to buy but I'll move that convo to the tech/gear thread.
Does anyone have a cyclocross frame for sale?  I might assemble a commuter with old parts until I purchase a real cyclocross bike this fall.

edit: 52cm, e-mail me

Anyone have an old Powertap wheel that has been consigned to scrap heap, dust bin or closet? My wired wheel, inside trainer use only, has given up the ghost.
The battery cover on hub is shot and won't hold batteries in place. Hence, no wattage read out on head unit. The cap is one of the really old style with 2 screws that hold in placen rather than one removed by tool. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a wireless sl+ hub in perfect condition, laced to a broken rim. I think I rode it about 10 times. I think with our deal I paid about $670 for it. Make me an offer if you are interested.
Eric, Thanks, I will keep it in mind. I think my wheel is good, if I can get my hands on cover. Spoke to Powertap and they don't have the model anymore. It's like a 5 dollar part. Trying to avoid going deep if I can. If I can't find one, I will contact you.

Hey KCC Folks-

anyone have a decent set of raceable aluminum clinchers available for loan for this month, possibly less.

I stored my wheels all at my parents in south jersey. I'm not sure when I'll when I'll get a chance to get down there. I need Shimano 10-speed compatible hubs.

Let me know here or contact me directly off-list mperlberg@gmail.com

I have the wheels that came stock on my Giant CX bike, if you want to borrow them.
I have an extra set of Boyd Vitesses you can borrow.  I'm assuming you're racing this weekend. I'm sick so I can't bring them to you right now. But in a few days when I hopefully feel better I could as I need to get to Ride to pick up my Osmo order. I'm in Greenpoint close to the BQE, or a 10-12 minute walk from the subway

You guys are awesome I got a half dozen offers. Let me figure out which will be least inconvenient to all parties involved.

SICK.

I especially like how your head tube is almost as long as your fork.
Beautiful track frame.
Any body have a 53t 130bcd chainring in decent condition they would want to sell?

Thanks
