Rene looked really strong and active in the 3s.

The 4 race started with a crash kn lap 2 that neutralizes the race for something like 7 laps. Once neutral was over we were flying. I got caught next to a crash on turn 4 on the last lap. Stayed upright but it was the end of the race.

After watching the 3s and women race I joined the masters race with Ed Nolan and Keith. That was a fast race. Unfortunately someone touched wheels betweenwith 4 to go between turn 3 and 4 and I couldn't get around them. Went down along with a few others. Keith said he rode into me. Wasn't hurt and bike was okay but my rear carbon wheel is toast. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.

Please let Andy rack up a few more sprint points in the Castaldi cup...there are 4 races left...two more good showings and the green jersey will be out of reach to anyone else....after that the 1/2/3's can have at him....yacks

PS, looking at the podium photo, it would have been totally sweet if he was rocking some boss Kissena themed podium kicks.

The Pro 1/2 race was blazing. Not surprising of course. I'll let Ragot and Partland drop some digits on y'all so you can ooh and ahh at them riding comfortably in the pack all day.

Myself, I earned my second flat in two days of racing. Because you know, someone's smiling on me. Now, I'm not going to say that I would have hung in there too had I not been riding a softening tire for lord knows how many laps...but you know, surely it didn't help? (Mental note to self, check tires next time you get dropped, just in case a free-lap could be taken).

And I have to say, I was nailing those corners pretty good for a while, before the weakness of the motor revealed itself as the winds picked up on the back stretch and the business of racing got all single filey.

The race was dominated by who I think were the usual suspects, plus a group of Euro Trackies who are living at T-town these days. There were call-ups and you know, they got called up because they're all Euro and shit.

I have to say, I know Charlie can't necessarily give us a discount on all of "OUR" races, but dammit, if Harlem is ours again next year, I'm going to make a big fuss if we don't get to send one of our riders to the front line. Respect, yo.

Finally, a little "teaching moment" regarding starts. Despite hunkering up to the rear haunches of Elite/Pr cross stud Anthony Clark before they let us onto the course, the field had me beat there too. So after finding myself packed into the inside left of the field (the worst possible place on this course that starts with a narrow hard left turn), I made my first game-time decision.

I backed way out of the pack, hung back on the right side, ensuring that I would be able to cleanly clip in and nail the outside of turn 1 which was a mere 35 meters after the start. I hoped I would be able to pass through a row or two of back starters and give myself a shot at riding protected from the wind. Sure enough, swerving guys in front of me looking down at their feet trying to clip in (looking doesn't help folks, trust me), I managed a solid start and within a few laps I was where I needed to be. Unfortunately, that didn't last...

P.S. One of the swerving dudes, I skirted past was some guy (there's always 'some guy') who clips in both feet and hangs onto the barriers. They think this is the way to do it, but the problem is, they always have a hard time getting moving from that position and end up all wonky all over the place until their internal gyroscope moves off of "douchey" level.

We do it that way on the track, but we can go down the slope of the track to gain speed. I clipped INA and darted right past these guys too. Everyone overhears to start.

My report is simple. I'm toasty these days. Didn't like the hot ride up. Didn't want to do more warm up. So I rolled around.

Race started my legs hurt I wanted to quit. Now a note about me wanting to quit. Once I get over that and start really accelerating I am good to go, but its not easy and I have to be riding or feeling right to put myself there. I wasn't there except for the mid third of the race. I was there for orchard beach and rah way. That's why I did well there. Plus two weekends ago with riverhead and lime rock.

Back to the race. Fast 29mph average for the hour. Haven't gone that fast in over 10 years. I hung at the back for the first third. Started and moved up for the middle third and as we hit 1t laps left of 35, the field slowed and all the guys I had made my way past came back through. I started the moving up process again for a while then just rode it in on the back.

From 10 minutes on, I wanted to quit. But I found a way to suck it up and keep going. So far that's the third time this year - bound brook, white plains and today. In the past that's the feeling I had when I set the 10mile record at town (Tuesday night). I know that if I fight through it I'll be OK. Now I have to work on having more left when I get to that place. Its coming I'm sure. I'm just not there yet.

FYI: andy for $60 for his win.  i got $50 for a preme.  there were two more available.  next time, i might just go for premes.  then vomit all the way to the bank.

Oh for FUKC sake.  They guy who went down in the 4's is Patrick Burns from RBNY - super nice guy, father of 2 and a safe racer.  Sounds like a broken collarbone and a punctured lung.  Balls.

Big congrats to Andy! Hot damn. I got there just after the 4's race. Awesome event. Got some good shots too which I will share a bit later.
