I'm very likely to do the double header this weekend.



Who's up for riding out to FBF from GAP on Saturday? The 4s start at 8:30 so I'm thinking 7:00.



Last year Dan did very well to get in a 4 man break that held to the finish and earned himself a bottle of wine from the gracious winner. Let's see if we can take the case this year!

I think I'm gonna do it - I'll be coming from Manhattan but I'll meet folks at GAP and ride down.

Dan, are you doing it again? It'd be great to have a captain who did well last year.

Also, is this business as usual for Floyd or should we pre-reg for this one?

Sorry, I only have one race I can do this weekend. I am going to do tour de parc, on Sunday.

I think this is a standard FBF race. Look for a late break/split in the field, so be ready for the second half of the race, and probably look to be on the attack quite a bit in after everybody gets tired.

Can we say 7.30 at GAP? Doesn't take more that a half hour from there.

Yeah, you're probably right. Want to split the difference and make it 7:15? I hate that rushed feeling and Flatbush is flat (as in no air left in tire) territory....

I'm heading out but I feel like it takes more along the lines of 45-1hr to get out there. Bedford is a pretty decent ride out.

Fast first few laps with some nice attacking. I flatted with 7 to go. Race stayed together until John from Eastern Mountain Sports took a solo flyer at the start of the last lap which he held to the end. John M 1st in field sprint, Joe 3rd.

Nice! Congrats fellas. Just outta the wine, but who wants a case of Chardonnay anyway?

I felt good at the race, still trying to figure out wind direction and how to read it. Also need to remind myself to be near the front on the last lap... Missed the break guy

John wern't you the person leading the pack at turn 3? If so you did a great job in setting the tempo.

That was super fun. We had a ton of Kissenas - 8, maybe? - and indeed, many of us attacked repeatedly. We were less effective at blocking and getting ourselves into any kind of leadout train - Joe took up a leadership role, giving some instructions, but I imagine it felt like a lot of kitten-wrangling.

On the final lap, I got boxed in on turn 3 and couldn't get into any position for the final effort. Too bad, too, 'cause I still had some gas. I won't make that mistake again.

I think most, if not all of us, could benefit from a clinic from Marc or JP on organization at the front - we had enough guys with the fitness, we were just lacking coordination.

Joe, I believe that was me, out of turn 3. Just bummed I missed the break, I had to ease up (cramp) after turn 1 so I didn't get back up front until later on on the final lap.

Those photos are awesome!

Good race team! I think we did great. I saw Joe, Josh Jim, John, Tito, Jeff and Wojciech out there busting shit up—we had riders up all day! It was definitely a challenge to stay away with the lighter airs, but couldn't believe Sam Chesterton & co. (Breakaway) just burning it up to pull back break after break. Hudson guys had to get involved too many times. I felt we put major hurt on the other teams with our attacks and definitely softened sprint legs. Agree with Tito that we could have blocked better—let's have a go at jamming up the front 5 with Kissena's next time we have someone up the road.

The big threats I saw were Misha, Sam and Omir (sprint) in particular. If you see these guys attack in the future let's shut them down and try and hurt them with hard counters. If we have numbers, we should share the pain around. Key though is to be ready near front to go.

In terms of the finish, Joe and I conferenced 3 to go about a lead-out as a back up plan to a breakaway, but final lap we had mayhem: CRCA J Anthony solo, a Kissena (sorry forgot your name) got half way up to bridge and got stuck there. Other teams didn't chase, which put us in a bit of a dilemma: chase our own rider 50 feet up or block and hope they can hold for second. John S. came up from the back to chase not realizing we had a guy up and had to reign it in. Coming onto the sprint I was marking the Hudson train and supposed to be on Joe's wheel. But there was a bit of role reversal as I went early. I have to admit that for a solid 30 seconds I thought I took the wine—extreme tunnel vision.

You might notice Floyd mud has this weird autoshop smell to it. Search Floyd Bennett you'll find "fuel contamination left unhealthy amounts of benzene, naphthalene and other harmful poisons and carcinogens in the soil". Yikes! Next time I'm going to carry some decrudding technology (moist towelettes) for some post race detox.
